  1. Some great names on this list, Ronning, McLean, Courtnall, Salo, Lidster. I would have added Bieksa & Mogilny.

  2. No Jyrki Lumme? Can't take a list like this seriously…

Well more seriously speaking Bure being at number 10 is also another "can't understand, can't take seriously"-type of a thing. Alongiside with Mogilny not being on the list at all.

  3. I am looking forward to a similar list regarding the Ducks knowing how much you changed your attitude toward the team 😀

  4. Really enjoyed this playlist 5 years ago. Excited to see the Red Wings list when you post it. Also, would not be surprised to see Sherwood on a future Canucks favourite video if he stays with the team long enough

  5. 1982 CANUCKS !!!… Always liked Darcy Rota too. He lives near Hickey Park (where our meet-ups are). He's often walking his dog at Mundy Park or the local elementary school. His dog likes our dog — which makes Darcy Rota quite high on my personal FAVE of all-time Canucks ;-P
My first Canucks hockey cards were Chris Oddleifson and Hilliard Graves from the 1976-77 season. Since then, I've always preferred their original logo and jerseys.

Note: Both future Canucks Darcy Rota & Ivan Boldirev played for the Chicago Blackhawk that season. They were traded to the Atlanta Flames as part of the HUGE Tom Lysiak trade … and both later found their way to Vancouver a couple of years later. Yea, I can get nerdy that way …

  6. LOVED Bo Horvat … But he's kind of like Don Lever to me … A really good player on an under-performing team. Now that I look at it, I usually associate my personal FAVE Canucks with my personal FAVE times being a Canucks fan. Unfortunately, the "Bo era" was very frustrating and offered few moments of elation or pure joy. But, I always appreciated his gutsy performances and his amazing work ethic.

  7. I much more remember Russ while he was in Toronto, and that because of one of my all-time favorite games (even 35 years later) – Wayne Gretzky Hockey League Simulator (one of the first games from Bethesda!). I put well over a thousand hours into that game in the 90s, before discovering Eastside Hockey Manager in the 2000s. I'm pretty sure I managed every team through my years of playing that

  8. Even as a Flames fan who dislikes the Canucks I'd take Bo Horvat. Also, despite my dislike of the Canucks (which goes back to the mid 90s), Trevor Linden is definitely my favorite player to play on that team. Such a talent and a classy dude on and off the ice.

A couple of other historic Canucks that I liked include Sergio Momesso and Dana Murzyn!

  9. HG's FAVE Canucks by Era Overview:
Current Team – Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko, Conor Garland, EP40 (5 players)
2008 to 2012 Era – Sedin Twins, Luongo, Naslund, Salo (6 players)
1991 to 1995 Era – Ronning, Linden, McLean, Adams, Bure, Courtnall, Lidster, Babych (8 players)
1982 Stanley Cup Run – Daryc Rota, Stan Smyl (2 players)
    ~
    2 Outliers … Bo Horvart (2015-2023), Tony Tanti (1982-1990)

  10. Some of those old names….wow. You're going to have me digging out my old hockey cards, and I'm not even a Canucks fan.

"Honey, why are you in the attic?"

"Just looking for something. No worries."

  11. I've met Thomas Gradin before at a WHL pre-season game in Everett. Very nice guy and took lots of time to talk to me, he even remembered me a few years later when I saw him at another game.

  12. Was expecting to see you pick Bieksa and Burrows, possibly Burtuzzi. I’d pick Bieksa, Burrows, Kesler and possibly #1 Rypien! Wasn’t around for the 80’s or 90’s

  13. Nice to see Salo on the list. When not hurt and during the later years he was so steady retrieving and passing pucks. Caused a lot of break outs.

  14. A relative of mine, got really upset when the regular season ended. On Facebook, he kept going on about Quinn Hughes is going to leave the Canucks. He is going to demand a trade to play with his brothers. I kept telling him, Quinn has never said he wants a trade. Nothing will change his mind 😅

  15. Um, Alex Burrows? Talk about a good story. From roller hockey to sniper on one of the best lines in hockey at the time. He should have cracked the 20

  16. Naslund made the we choked speech after the last game of the regular season when Colorado passed them for first place, Forsberg passed him for the art ross and Hejduk passed him for the rocket Richard all in the same afternoon

  17. Bure, Jovo, Luongo. I was also guilty of liking Bertuzzi. I am hoping for Demko to be the goalie people keep thinking or saying he is. Stay healthy.

  18. It's interesting that you started with #21. So would I: Jyrki Lumme. He was the best penalty killer of his era, and perhaps ever. He could backhand the puck from the corner, over everyone's head, and down the ice to clear the zone.
He's a really nice guy, and still has a house on the North Shore.
Rota's a really friendly, humble guy. It's nice to see you put him there next to his old mate, the Steamer.

  19. This is why I love Shannon, he’s the one person on YouTube I know that would say
“Chocolate ice cream is perfectly serviceable“
    Never change Shannon

  20. I know Shannon doesn't like to focus on the negative but I would love to see his Top 20 Doormat Dynasties.

  21. Linden is still my #1

Others I liked not on this list: Kesler (reminded me of Linden in some ways; felt like a true #2C) Lumme (I used to love watching his toe up dangles when he came in from the blueline) Gino (Did he ever finish a fight with his jersey on?) Bertuzzi (Absolute beast)
