I’m your host, Cam Stewart. I didn’t have the mic muted to start the day for the first time in forever. Zack Burks, our producer, he keeps us on the air five days a week. And say goodbye to it. Okay, take it in. All right, now because I’m not going to be in this barebones studio come Monday, we’re going to have something a little bit better. Today we are talking about the Bruins prospects with the most to prove in the 202526 season. I’m talking prospects, not guys who are going to play for the Bruins this year. Uh we’re going to talk about the the greatest thing that has happened to the Red Sox this year and it has to do with the downfall that we’ve all prayed for and going around social media this week. Everyone’s talking about the worst song ever and that just tickled me and Zach’s nipples. We’re going to get on third segment and give you our three worst songs ever. Agree, disagree, embrace debate. Bring it on. But we start where we start with the thumbnail. That’s where we start every day live at high noon Eastern time and wherever you get your podcast as well. The Bruins finally have a prospect pool to get excited about. And to go along with it, the Bruins suck. So we can follow these prospects along and actually get some hope for the future. Now there are these guys who are in between, right? Patra, Fraser Mitten, Fabian Lysel, even Georgie Mulov still who are prospects but are going to play on the team this year. And then there’s James Hagens who’s the next thing, the great hope for the Bruins. What we’re going to try and find is somewhere in between. these guys who are playing amateur hockey that are not named James Hagens who actually have to prove something this year for Bruins fans to get excited. First guy on our list couldn’t go any further than this. The Bruins amateur prospect with probably the most to prove is Dean Lerno. First round pick in 2024. Had a just awful season at Boston College in his first year. played in 36 games and tallied just as many goals as I did for Boston College last year. Zero goals, three assists in 36 games. Um, it was felt like a bit of a reach pick at the time, but he was graded out as a first round prospect. Um, but it felt like the Bruins were really chasing the position. 67 220 pound center. Exactly what the Bruins need in every facet. Only problem was he was 18 years old. He was just coming out of Canadian prep hockey and he was jumping to Hockey East. A decision that 12 months later, Don Sweeney, the GM who drafted him, said that was a mistake. In hindsight, that was a mistake. Of course it was. That’s why he barely registered on the score sheet for the Eagles this year. I can’t believe somebody didn’t get into Dean Lerno’s ear and said, “You know what? You played a couple of games the USHL last year. You should really stay there. Like I know you’re 67, but you can’t just barrel through everybody in Hockey East. Okay? There are going to be kids that are older than you that are bigger than you weightwise and have played a lot more highlevel hockey than you have. And he got exposed big time. And the other part that puts a ton of pressure on Dean Lerno is not only is he just a first round pick, but he was the first round pick that came in the leanest trade, which is going to go down as a really bad trade for the Bruins, even though they had an incumbent starter at goal in Jeremy Swayman. They got Jonas Corposalo, who’s one of the worst goalies in the entire league, and he played less than 30 games last year for the Bruins. They got Mark Castelik, who fans like, but he is a fourthliner with zero offensive skill. And they got Dean Lerno, and this looks like a project. As Fran Fchill would say in the NBA draft, he’s two years away from being two years away. You looked at the highlights at the time when he was drafted and you love it, man. He’s 67, he’s physically dominant until you realize he’s playing against Canadian high school kids. Couldn’t dominate physically in Hockey East. and it showed. He’s supposed to have a great shot. We truly don’t know yet with zero goals at the NCAA level. Good skater for a guy his size. The other part of the pressure, not just coming in the Lena Soulmark trade, he also gets compared on draft night to Ta Thompson, 67 with a hard shot. Anytime you’re being compared to a guy of that ilk who could legitimately be an MVP in the next couple of seasons, there’s going to be a ton of pressure on and a year on from being drafted in the first round, a lot of Bruins fans are already writing off LNO as a bust. This is a big-time year for the kid at age 19. Okay, I don’t I’m not ready to say he’s a bust just yet because of all that we just talked about, but the pressure is certainly on. If he has another bad year, which could happen, he’s still clearly trying to figure it out. Um, then that could re that snowball effect could really start going for this kid who even didn’t even really have a good development camp this year. Um, there were still some worries about his game at development camp the first couple of days. It’s not like we start we’re starting to see stuff that’s like oh he’s right on the right path here. This could take a couple of months. So number one Dean Lerno ton of pressure on the kid. Number two Bruins amateur prospect with the most to prove. Will Zellers also entering college hockey this year at the University of North Dakota. Now Zeers was kind of the the focal point of the Charlie Coyle trade. uh you had to get Casey Middlestat in addition to that, but I really think the Bruins were focusing in on that trade to get Will Zers. He had a terrific year in the USL last year. He led the league in goals with 44, added 27 assists. So, more of a goal scorer than a playmaker. Let’s just say that. And he won the USHL player of the year with the Green Bay Gamblers. The kid’s a stud. Okay. The kid has plenty of offensive skill. What he’ll need to prove this year is that it’s not going to take two or three seasons to get adjusted to that next level. He’s 19 years old. He’s not the biggest kid in the world and he’s about to play some major college hockey at the University of North Dakota. Um it’s funny reading his scouting reports. The Daily Faceoff one said at times he was too fast for his teammates in the USHL. he was too fast and he would just get himself into corners and there was nowhere to go. I don’t think that’s going to be a problem in the NCAA. I I don’t think Will Zers is going to be too fast for the guys in college hockey, especially playing in a program like North Dakota with the real national championship ambitions that they have. Why there’s a ton of pressure on him is that offensive skill. There’s a ton of pressure on this kid. He’s got so much to prove because he’s a gifted goalcorer. And inevitably, when the Bruins have another year this next year like they had in 24-25 when they suck and they can’t put the puck in the net, you’re going to be looking at any prospect who can put the puck in the net. Will Zellers can do that better than anybody in the US could last year. Okay? They are going to their their mouth is going to water these Bruins fans when they see that they’ve got a kid who hopefully is starting to light it up in college hockey can be a transformative offensive player. His skill is really high. Um the everyone says the hands are can translate to the NHL. He’s got to build up a bunch of physicality which he will obviously learn at the college hockey level. So that’s why it could take a little bit. Um he is going to be playing with Cole Resnney, a first round pick of the Flames, um alongside him at UND, but there’s still going to be a ton of pressure on him. The Bruins fans know they need young, controlled offensive talent. They don’t have it right now. Um it’s still a couple of years off in terms of their pipeline. Maybe James Hagens uh at the end of next year. Maybe Matthew Potra turns into something more than what he’s been. six goals in 66 NHL games so far. But Will Zellers is going to be the guy that they’re looking at. But if you’re looking at what he’s done so far, can’t beat it, right? He won the USHL player of the year. He led the league in goals and he decided to play in the USHL unlike Dean Lerno. So, probably a bit more of a natural progression uh into the Boston Bruins pipeline rather than jumping ahead to the NCAA uh when he shouldn’t have been doing that. My favorite is from the athletic scouting report that says he’s a quote thorny pain in the ass. The Bruins could use some of that. A thorny pain in the ass who could put the puck in the net. Boy, that’s tough to play against. Not what the Bruins GM thinks is tough to play against. actually tough to play against. Will Zellers at number two with the most approved for Bruins prospects. Number three, second round pick, William Moore. Now, he’s another guy that’s going to BC this year, and honestly, I think that’s the biggest reason why he’s got to prove something this year. That’s not even necessarily his fault. But if the Bruins are going to keep drafting guys and sending them to BC, we need to see some results. James Higgins is going to be a good player. You picked him in the top 10, but there’s a bunch of Bruins prospects that are playing at Boston College. Guys who have looked like Bus so far in Dean Lerno. Guys you thought would have taken the next step by now like Andre Gasso. And then there’s somewhere in the middle is William Moore. Okay. After getting the slam dunk top 10 pick in James Hagens that pretty much everybody but Mike Feler agreed was the right pick and a great pick. They then reached again which is so patented Don Sweeney and Cam Neely. They then reached again in round two to get this kid William Moore. Uh he played for the US national development team last year and to be quite frank did not have a very good year offensively for a kid who’s supposed to be a playmaking center. He had just 21 points in 25 games for the national team last year. Did go on to to be their leading scorer at the U8 world championships. So something to take from that. But 21 points in 25 games for the development team. Not great. Looking at the same year age-wise that James Hagens played for that team at his age 1617 season, he scored 102 points in 58 games. So that’s the kind of drop off you’re talking about from the Bruins first round pick to the second round pick when it comes to their production for the US national development team program. Um but again did lead the UA team championships in points for team USA. though. Um, this scouting report that I the most popular scouting report I saw on him says he really does the little things well and is a good playmaker in tight areas, specifically down low in that low slot, which is surprising because he’s not the most physically imposing guy, at least not yet. Um, it’s also surprising because he only had 21 points in 25 games. The other thing that I think puts some pressure on William Moore is the fact that I think he’s really close to exactly what this Bruins front office wants. For better or for worse, you know, well, I don’t like the way they’ve evaluated talent. I don’t like the way they’ve gone for things in the Don Sweeney era, but William Moore is very close to having all the great things that Bruins fans and Bruins management wants. He’s 6’2, but he’s only 174 pounds. He’s got to fill out that frame. If the playmaking is what they say it is and he can have a large frame on him, then absolutely William Moore will be a piece for the Bruins in the next three seasons or so. Um, don’t want to make him a power forward by any means, but he’s got to have the physicality to play not just at the NHL level, but let’s start at the Hockey East level. You know, everyone said James Hagens was too small. He’s three inches shorter than William Moore and he’s 15 pounds heavier. Again, the same age. Hagen’s going to turn 19 in December. Okay, William Moore sitting there at 174 pounds. That ain’t going to cut it. Ain’t going to cut it in the NHL, the AHL, and definitely not in the NCAA. He’s got to get bigger. He’s got to prove that he can be that creative playmaker that everybody says he is in the scouting reports, but didn’t necessarily show for the US national development team program uh in 2024 2025. Like Dean Lerno, like probably Will Zellers as well. This is going to take some time. When when you’re watching BC in November, William Moore is not going to be one of the standout guys. Trust me. Okay. You’re hoping by the time you get to the bean pot and they’re not playing Beu that he does become one of the standout guys, but he’s got to fill out that frame and he’s got to get that scoring touch back. Bottom line, number four on the list, we’re going to take a look at the Heights once again. Number four, Boston Bruins prospect with the most approved this year, Oscar Yelvic. This is a very interesting situation. He’s one of the litany of Boston College Eagles that is part of this Boston Bruins pipeline. And notice I didn’t mention him as the guys like, you know, Dean Lerno who looks like a bust, Andre Gasso, who we’re still waiting on, um James Hagens, who’s the next great hope. Somewhere in the middle there is Oscar Yelvic because he was on a heck of a trajectory when we were looking at it at this time last year. But now all of a sudden, he’s getting old pretty fast. Okay, he’s gonna turn 23 during the middle of the college hockey season in February and he’s still going to play out that final season for BC. Now, here’s why it’s interesting. He got hurt at the Bean Pot last year and missed the remainder of the season. Now, he wasn’t having a terrific season anyway. He only had 13 points in 23 games, but he was awesome the year before. in his second year at BC, he had 42 points in 41 games and was electrifying on the wing. Um kind of made that transition from center to wing where he’s going to mostly play now. And I think that’s actually something that’s really welcome for the Bruins if they can get a winger that can score. That’s kind of the next thing that they need. He played really well at Bruins development camp in 2023. that kind of carried over into that 23 24 season and then he kind of lost the touch last year and then got hurt. So, this needs to be a real big bounceback year for Oscar Yelvic who’s going to have to sign his entrylevel contract at the end of this season. Time is running out all of a sudden for Oscar Yelvic. But when he was having that good solid year in 23 24, he was really doing it all. He was scoring. He was setting up. He was playmaking. Played both on the power play and the penalty kill for one of the best teams in all of college hockey. That’s a really versatile winger that the Bruins could really use. Maybe he just ends up being a shutdown kind of forward penalty killer. Um, you know, bottom six guy in the NHL. Maybe at best he’s Pavle Zaka, but I’d take that. Pavl Zaka is a nearly 60 point guy. a couple of these years on a really good contract. If Oscar Yelvic can be that, that would be a heck of a success story. Um, he can play center, but mostly playing on the wing. So, good news for Bruins fans. If you’re going to watch this year, don’t be surprised to see him on the same line as James Hagens or William Moore or Dean Lerno or Andre Gaso. All centers, all property of the Boston Bruins. all playing for the Boston College Eagles this year. So, don’t be surprised if his center that’s setting him up or he’s setting up is also a Boston Bruins farm hand. Oscar Yelvic. The time is now. I believe in Yelvic, but the time is now. Those are the four Bruins amateur prospects that need to prove the most in this 2025 2026 season. Who is the biggest prospect for you outside of James Hagens? Back to our show, the Cam Show on Rogue Media Sports Network. I’m your host, Cam. Cam Stewart. Zack Burke keeps us on the air. We’re going to hear from Zack in the next segment, by the way. We’re going to talk about the worst songs ever written, which is going to be, oh, for sure up for debate. Um, we’re going to talk about that. We’ve already talked about the Bruins and their top prospects with the most to prove this year. It’s not James Hagens, okay? We’d love anything he proves this year is gravy, but there are a couple of his teammates that have a lot to prove if this Bruins prospect pipeline is as strong as what we think it should be. Now, let’s talk the Red Sox. They’re heading out west tonight, Friday night, uh, against a good San Diego team. I don’t like going out west this time of year. Crazy things happen, man. dog days of August, these 10 PM start times, like especially where you are in the division race right now, I just don’t like going out there. Crazy [ __ ] happens when you go out west. And maybe this is the time for some crazy [ __ ] to happen. The Red Sox have been playing really well. They just snapped a six-game winning streak against Kansas City. They’re now second in the division, four back of Toronto, uh, with a very real possibility to win the AL East. And that all comes off the back of having a really disappointing trade deadline on July 31st where fans were, I think justifiably, really upset with the Red Sox lack of investment. But I’ll tell you this much, the greatest thing to happen to the Red Sox at the trade deadline was the New York Yankees because there they go floundering again, sinking like a stone in August. What is up with this Yankee team? Look, I’m not complaining as a Red Sox fan. I’m way in. I’m really enjoying this. But why do we do this every year with the Yankees? Why do they never live up to their potential? This is like the fifth year in a row that we do this. Here we go again. I went to the Red Sox game on Saturday and when the Red Sox won, the Yankees lost to Miami, which they apparently did do a lot. Um they finally overtook the Yankees in the AL East and by Tuesday night. They were three and a half games up. The Yankees just cannot get out of their own way. While the Red Sox had a super disappointing trade deadline, the Yankees went out and made moves and are even worse. Like that’s something that Craig Brezlo might point two years from now and say, “Well, we could have done this.” Yankees went out and got the super pen. Super pen. Jake Bird from Colorado. Super pen, baby. In his last 10 games overall, eight of those were not with the Yankees. By the way, in his last 10 games, he has pitched seven innings, given up 19 earned runs, five homers for a 24.4 ERA and a 9.97 FIP. Jake Bird has given up more runs in his last seven innings than his previous 48. And that writing was on the wall. Only two of those appearances were with the Yankees. And his next couple appearances won’t be with the New York Yankees. They sent him down. They sent him down a week after trading for him. David Bednar, two runs in less than two innings at his in his debut. Camlo Dval, another guy they traded for from San Francisco, only has one game finished with the Yankees so far, but he has a blown save and a loss to go with it in the same game. Like this was a disa. Cababiierro, the guy they got from Tampa, muffs a routine ground ball in right field that allows the tying run to score in the first game of a three-game sweep at the hands of the Miami Marlins who then get [ __ ] canned by the recently swept by the Red Sox Houston Astros right after. And at least at least you understand why they had to trade for the super pen. because they thought they got a guy in the off seasonason who’s one of the best bullpen arms in all of baseball. Devin Williams was phenomenal for the Brewers the last couple of years. Then he puts on that Yankee pinstripes, starts spreading the news. This guy sucks. He [ __ ] blows. Devin Williams this year. I mean, the number drop off is insane. His war as a relief pitcher has dropped by two wins. He now has a negative war as a relief pitcher. And his erra plus his erra plus has dropped down from 331 to 75 in one season. Remember plus 100 is always average. Last year he was 231% better than the league average pitcher. This year he’s 25% worse than the league average pitcher. That’s an insane drop off. That’s that is unheard of. And to go along with it, he’s a 5.44 RA and he’s finished 27 games this year, but he’s only got 17 saves. That kind of that kind of tells you the year that it’s been for Devin Williams. And we saw it again for their fifth straight loss the other night against the Rangers. He gets the bases loaded. He goes Tet with Rowdy to Les and gives up a two-run single. Game over. Nathan Yuvaldi absolutely shoved against them. The Yankees did get the tying run to the plate because they got their second hit in only the ninth inning. And then John Carlos Stanton grounds out running about 4 and a half miles per hour to first base. He gets doubled up. Put a ball in the hole. Oh man, how’s Bryce Harper doing? You think maybe you think maybe Yankees you should have gone for him instead of John Carlos Stanton? But it all comes back to this man. We have the same talk about the Yankees every year. Aaron Boone doesn’t know how to manage. Jazz Chisum gets picked off first base on a on a fly ball to the second baseman and they double him up and Boon doesn’t take him out of the game. I tell you, with everything that’s happened in the last 22 years for the Red Sox, the greatest thing that’s ever happened to them was Aaron Boone hitting that home run in 2003, if he doesn’t hit that home run, he never becomes Yankee manager. And with the talent they’ve had and the roster they’ve had, they probably win a World Series at this point, but he did hit the home run. Yankee legend. And now here he is making us laugh summer after summer after summer. last year the bonus of giving us a nice hearty laugh at the end of October. I guess the the long short of it is they can’t win without Aaron Judge. And to be honest, I’m not going to really hold that against them. Aaron Judge is the best hitter in baseball. A lot of teams would struggle without Aaron Judge, but with the talent that you’ve got around them and the way that they’re losing, that’s where it becomes inexcusable. Because to be totally honest, they are a fundamentally they are a horrible fundamental baseball team. Horrible. They don’t run the bases well. They don’t field well. Their bullpen sucks. And what’s so funny about all of this too is when it comes to those fundamentals, base pass, defense, the Red Sox are not much better. Okay? The Red Sox lead the league in errors. Okay? It’s not like they’re this polished defensive team, but they’ve been a lot better the last month in both of those things, defense and running the bases. The Yankees have not. They’re getting worse. And they’ve got they’ve got their franchise icon again. Boy, do I love it. Anthony Vulpi, local guy, name ends in a vowel. Shortstop just like Jada. Exactly. Can’t feel the position. How are we going to spin this? We spun Derek Jeter into being the greatest shorts stop in the history of baseball out of nowhere. Great player, but best shorts stop. Not even close. Are we going to do that with Anthony Vulpi, too? It’s It’s a disaster, man. They’re getting doubled up at first base on a fly ball to second baseman. They can’t make throws from shortstop to third base. It’s It’s just a mess. But what I will say is this. What have I said so much already? We do this every year. Every year the Yankees do something like this. In fact, last year in June, I did a whole segment on this show, early days of the CAM show. Did a whole segment in June of last year about how the Yankees were fading and here come the Red Sox. Remember, they had that historic start last year, the first two months of the season. And then in June, they were horrible. Horrible. And the Red Sox started to get hot. And then look what happened. The Red Sox faded like they’ve done each the last couple of years and the Yankees gave us a chance to laugh at them in the World Series rather than just the championship series or the division series. So, they turned it around last year. They were completely exposed in the World Series when the Dodgers just simply made them play baseball and that’s that was the undoing of the Yankees. And to be fair, the landscape of the American League is pretty similar this year. There’s no runaway team. Toronto’s run differential. I don’t know. But we’re getting to the point as Red Sox fans, at least temporarily, we’re not even looking at the Yankee scores anymore. We’re looking at the Toronto scores. When does this end? If you’re the Yankees, I hope long may it continue. But if you’re the Yankees, when does this end? When do you get a serious manager in here? When do you get a better general manager in here? And when do you finally figure out this freaking bullpen? When you get guys that can actually play the positions that you’re trotting them out to, this could be a Yankee freefall like two years ago. I thought they had a better team to turn it around last year. I don’t know if they do here in 2025. Let me know what you think in the comments section below. We got to break, you know, and so I was always on there and so just like deconnecting from that has been I do feel like I miss out on some things like I get that that you know somebody I’ll come in, they’ll be like, oh, you know, they’re talking about things and I don’t always like I have to ask, but then there’s also a bunch of just dumb stuff that I don’t have to deal with. So it it is a little nice. So, I I bring this up because there’s a trend that I’m in. It’s not huge yet on social media, but it is and that is uh you know, people just putting out the worst songs ever and being like, “Oh, hot take because this was a hit, but this song absolutely sucked.” And I agree with a lot of these. Now, this is difficult. And I’ve always said this about music. It’s music is like the most subjective thing on the planet. You either like it or you don’t. So, I really try I try, Zach. You know, I try I try not to judge people on their music taste. I really try. Um, but I can’t help it most of the time. And so, we’re gonna we’re going to have our least or the in our opinions the three worst songs. Um, and this was very tough for me. Like very very tough for me to whittle down. I I’m almost doing it like and yeah, there’s there’s just so many ways I can go with this. I could do the last 10 years of of pop music in general. Like I I 12 years, you know, I could I could do that. There’s going to be ones that I think about later, but I I just tried to keep it keep it down to three. So, I think what we’re going to do is we’re going to switch off. We’re going to each do our three, each two, uh, and then one. So, would you like to start us with your number three hot take? Worst song ever. I I will go with my number three, uh, hot take. And I I say that is a bit of a hot take too because it’s a Christmas song. Okay. That could be its own list. It could and it could be because there was it was between two and I hate them both. But there is one that I’ll give an honorable mention that’s called like Christmas shoes or something like that. And it is the saddest story of a song that I don’t know why I want to listen to it at Christmas. But the one that I am going to My stepmom likes that song. It’s so I don’t it the one that I’m going to do is also because this is a an artist that in general I love. Yeah. And they were a part of a band that I love a lot of. Yeah. But there’s a song that is forever just the epitome of awfulness to me and that is Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney andor I guess Wings. I mean is it a Wings song? Paul McCartney song. Yeah. So, Wings did not want to be associated with that. There is nothing. And here’s the funny thing about that. I have an aunt who I’ve argued this with her because it is her favorite song and she does not understand why I find it annoying, but it is. It’s just one of those of where, you know, he can put together a good song. Yeah. And that is what he came up with. It is uh an earworm in the worst way of where it’ll stay with you. And I just want to sometimes find some way to muzzle myself to quit humming it because I hate it so much. I I try every year to never hear it around Christmas time. You get stuck at some point. And you’re right, like it is it’s catchy enough that some people really like it. And I mean, we all have people in our lives that are like this. So this is not a shot at anybody, especially your aunt because we all have people like this. But like anybody who likes that song just doesn’t really think about music, you know what I mean? Like they don’t they don’t have a favorite band. Like they don’t, you know what I mean? They just they kind of like the catchy stuff. And it is catchy. Uh but it’s [ __ ] horrible. Um which does it doesn’t lead me to one of my selections, but it is interesting to note that uh on a lot of these lists, I’m sure that you’ll see uh Paul McCartney is half of another one of the worst songs ever written. Oh, okay. one of the greatest artists of all time. Uh that would be Ebony and Ivory with with with Paul McCartney and uh and what’s Dave? Stevie Wonder. Uh just [ __ ] horrible. Um terrible. Um so yeah, he had he had a run of just bad songs there though. Paul McCartney, like not to get too deep into this, but Paul McCartney’s post Beatles career is not that great in my opinion. Living like the only song I like. I do like that song. I was never a big wings guy. like band on the run. I can take it or leave it. Um like I thought I thought John Lennon had a much better Oh yeah, I would agree with him. Oh, Speedle’s career. I know a lot of people hate the song Imagine, which I get it. I like it, but I understand why you would think that’s annoying. Um yeah, Hero is not bad. I mean, there’s a lot of He’s got other good stuff. Yeah. I mean, I’m into even some of his hippie [ __ ] so I mean I guess most of his shit’s hippie [ __ ] That’s true. Um anyway, all right. Have you seen Sorry. Just I do want to bring up because I saw it make the rounds the other day and you are a big music guy. Have you seen the clip then of where he’s playing with Chuck Barry and Yoko starts singing and they turn off Yoko’s mic? Great clip cuz Chuck Barry hadn’t and Chuck Barry was a weirdo and a creep in a lot of different ways, but an artiste who had no time for Yoko [ __ ] No time for it. It’s like And she just start They’re doing a song. You’re doing a song and she starts [ __ ] screaming and then they just [ __ ] cut it off. But you see the look I’m just like what in the world when you brought up Yeah. All right. Number three for me, Zach. I didn’t tell you this, but I cheated a little bit. Okay. Because I just Are you Pete today? I mean, yeah. I I did I did pull a bit of a Pete because I couldn’t pick just one of theirs. I just I need I need this to be a PSA. This Okay, this this group needs to be completely eliminated. I think I feel like I know who you’re about to say, but let’s let’s see. There is nothing at all redeemable about Imagine Dragons. That’s exactly what I thought you were going to say. Like I just there nothing, bro. And and we’re at such a time in music where like if you look at like the year-end rock charts because nobody in pop is doing rock anymore. It’s [ __ ] Imagine Dragons. And it I I just like I don’t even sometimes I can understand I can be like I don’t like that music but I can understand why people would like something like that. I just don’t get Imagine Dragons at all. all the [ __ ] that people have talked about for decades about uh Dave Matthews band or uh Coldplay or uh Nickelback. All the things you think about those bands are what Imagine Dragons actually is. And by the way, I hate Coldplay, too. Okay. Um I like Nickelback. Um I understand it’s weird and I like Dave Matthews band. People don’t like it. But all like all the criticisms that those bands have. If you put it all together and put it in AI, it’s Imagine Dragons. Like that’s what it is. They’re the most unchallenging music ever. It’s so [ __ ] annoying. And I couldn’t pick one song. I couldn’t pick just one. Radioactive, Top of the World, any of this [ __ ] It sucks that I know it because they’re popular. They sell out stadiums. Maybe I’m wrong, but th this this is an abomination. Like Imagine Dragons should be deleted. If you could delete music entirely, the art that Imagine Dragons has supposedly made, if you could wipe it from the earth, I think that would be good for society. That would progress society. They they had a song of Kendrick. I mean, that’s Yeah, I also sucked. And I don’t really like Kendrick, but I understand why a lot of people do. I don’t understand Imagine Dragons. I I can I I can understand this. I I to be like a minor. What is the X on the hand for? What a [ __ ] loser. These guys all suck. They’re just an abomination, a disgrace to music. Okay. Oh my god, I hate them. Okay. You didn’t even You didn’t even like uh Radioactive a little bit when it first came out. No. No. In fact, I remember the the song that came out at a similar time I was in high school was It’s Time. You remember that one? It’s time to begin. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I remember hearing it the first time I was like, “Oh, this is this is not bad. It’s not bad.” Yeah. Uh but literally by like the third time, I was like, “Okay, I get it.” And that was right in the middle of the stomp stomp clap. I It just [ __ ] So I didn’t realize that we were bringing art. I should know that I should have prepared for it. So while you were I just I couldn’t I couldn’t help. No, no, no. That’s fine. I found two for my last two. My number two is one. Here’s the thing. These are ones though that I feel will be if somebody else made this list like like they would think about these two. These are just ones that just grade at me the most. The first one would be from the 80s and it’s a band called Starship. I when I just hear that, you know, the synth at the beginning, I just cringe and I’m like, no. And now you get it in commercials. Yes. Now you get it parodyied in commercials. There’s one that it’s in right now. Uh the thing is the thing is what that’s what it was. Yeah. Looking up to find the album cover for this or the art for this. It’s links to an article s called the the oral history of the worst song of all time. So they know. But yeah, this guy in the jacket here, I want to punch him in the face. Well, here’s what I’ve always loved too is we built this city on rock and roll. But I think that it’s just a PSA to let you know how they built the city because there is nothing rock and roll about the song itself. It is just like trust us, we built the city on rock and roll. We We don’t have the song that we built it on, but we’re just going to It’s like It’s honestly It’s like tribute by uh Tenacious D. But like that’s the thing. It’s just it’s it’s the pinnacle of terrible ‘8s music. I am a guy who uh and I feel like rightfully so, the 80s does get a lot of flack for having some really [ __ ] music. Yeah. But I am still the guy who will come up and be like, “Yeah, but there is some good stuff like Talking Heads, like you know, you can look for things like there.” Yeah, exactly. There’s a there’s a lot of good songs. I This is the epitome of everything wrong with the 80s. No, the we built this city. The No, no, no, no. I’m I hate it. Bad. I’m going to switch to mine here because this is a controversial pick for number two. Controversial for my people, um, for my audience, for my family. Like, this is really going against the grain. Everyone loves this song but me. I just and I actually don’t even think it’s like the worst song, but I’ve heard it so many goddamn times in my life and I hate the people that are into it. And that song is Sweet Caroline by Neil. But and as a Red Sox fan, too, man. Yeah. I’ve been to too many games where they’ve been down nine to three in the eighth inning and all these fake [ __ ] Taus fans who come here for Instagram just stick around so they can record people singing this song. I hate it, man. I just [ __ ] hate it. I’ve actually seen Neil Diamond perform this live at a Red Sox game at Fenway Park and I went to take a piss. Like, it’s just I I’m so sick of it. And the thing about it is like I think Neil Diamond’s actually a good artist and I think this song isn’t the worst song ever, but again, it’s the people. It’s how much it’s it gets people going when I don’t think it’s that good. And it’s the adding the so good, so good, so good. I’m like, didn’t need that. [ __ ] didn’t need that. And it’s annoying as [ __ ] The bop bop ba’s okay. Marginally okay. Okay. Like we’re I still hate this song. I do. Um the only what I like better is at West Virginia. Have you seen this? At the University of West Virginia, they sing it. Um and instead of bump bump bump, they say eat [ __ ] pit, which is Okay. I have No, I Okay, I have seen that. Yeah, that’s that’s creative. I’m into that. Um, but yeah, I just I just I hate this song, man. I I’m so sick of it. I And every and every time it’s like somebody with the with anytime you’re with like a lowest common denominator crowd, the DJ will be like, “This will get the people going.” Oh, sweet Carol. It’s like, no, this song is [ __ ] ass. So, no, it is point number two. I think h I don’t know. It’s it’s a thing that we all tend to do as you know a bunch of stodgy old white people too is like to sing along when they’ll diamond. Yeah, it is. Um, but so I get that. So, my last one just to give a little preface before I get into it. Usually when you try to create a song and you want to be provocative or you know sensual like there’s a way that you can you know descriptors or word like you can create such imagery with the words you use that you know you can set the scene. Um you can also do the complete opposite I guess attempt to go for it and fail miserably and create just an absolutely deplorable song all the way through. And that is exactly what happened in a little song by Black Eyed Peas called My Humps that I do not get at all. Um is is Fergie like that’s the thing is if even if Fergie is showing off what like it’s nonsensical. It’s just it’s it’s dumb. Even when I was in high like this came out when I was in high school and Yeah. See this this is a big divide by the way cuz I was like six or seven when this came out. Yeah. This is my So, I obviously understand it’s a stupid song, but at the time I loved it. I was literally barely developmentalled as a child. I like my brain wasn’t even developed. Yeah, I get that. It’s just like it came out my senior year in high school. Yeah. And I get like, okay, that’s cool. But the song itself is just it sucks. Yeah. It’s bad. It makes like the lyrics it makes it’s I guess it must be off the beat itself. Like it’s got a very like electro kind of sure influenced drum beat that’s cool to kind of like all right I get that but it was written for radio which I know most music used to be written for radio but yeah well and that you’re right that’s the thing it’s like everybody wanted that what’s your radio single going to be off the album and it would be the one song of the album that sounded like nothing else on it. This is also though like a time when everything the black eyed peas put out was on the radio hit and a lot of it Yeah. And a lot of it just wasn’t like that good or at least maybe I should. It’s I wasn’t into it. But like it never had any substance and this is the epitome of it all. Like the album version of this song is 5 minutes and 27 seconds. Cam, why? That’s brutal. Not to get into like a huge sellout debate here, but like the Black Eyed Piece did go from where is the love to I’mma be. Um, and just in the middle there is is this is is my it is I would argue too and this is nothing against Fergie but Black Eyed Peas before they switched and added Fergie like listen to the album before and it is more it is it’s more hip-hop and more you’re like oh okay this could have been well that’s personal preference you said anyway yeah my humps is my least favorite song. All right, number one. I I told you it was tough to for me to narrow it down, but number one has always been in my brain, and it really sucks because it’s by one of my four or five favorite bands of all time. Um, a shell of that band because of who was not involved in this song. Um, I first saw and heard this song on a situational comedy um from the late 80s, early 90s. I think I know what song is big. It is. And I’ll wait till you to tell you where I first heard it, which is very weird, too. But go ahead. Um, and it bugs the crap out of me when a month or two ago, one of the greatest icons in the history of music died and people were like sharing their favorite songs by this band on Instagram. And some people were posting Cooko by the Beach Boys. I mean, far and away their worst [ __ ] song. um and has nothing to do with Brian Wilson. So, if you didn’t know that already, I want to teach somebody a very valuable lesson here. Brian Wilson had nothing at all to do with this song that I first heard on Full House with John Stamos playing in the background. Uh yeah, [ __ ] brutal. It’s It’s a It’s a Kevin Lo’s uncle thing, isn’t it? It’s more It’s got more Mike Love on it, doesn’t it? I I feel like he This is when Mike Love was running the band. Yeah. And they also they also did a horrible horrible like talk rap kind of song too that I’m I’m not remembering right now that could very well be up high on this list as well. Just add because Mike Love is the only I think beach boy who hated pet sounds while they were doing it too. So that should show you love is a prick, man. So uh if his if his balls had dropped properly, he would have been a [ __ ] waiter his whole life. Instead he works for the he sang for the Beach Boys. I heard this song first. Uh Kermit singing it from the Muppets in the early 90s. Probably better. It is. And secondly, Cooko isn’t even a real island. Not a real place town in Indiana. I mean, the most famous one. So, uh we honestly had a conversation about the song earlier this week with my father-in-law who told the anecdote of that he read that when it came out first that everybody was trying to book trips to Cooko only to find out that it was just a town in Indiana. It’s it’s and you know what that is kind of poetic as to what it is. Nothing against the great state of Indiana, but like it’s just what an awful song. And so many people like it. So many people like it. And I get I get when people say, “Oh, you know, it’s supposed to just be a fun song.” I get that, right? It’s not supposed to be super deep. To which I raise, most of the great Beach Boy songs are not very deep. There are some really great ones that weren’t pop hits that are deep, but like Surfing USA is not deep, but it’s a great song. It’s a great pop song. Cooko is not. And it’s a travesty that that’s what got, you know, the Beach Boys back on the charts without Brian Wilson. Cooko Beach Boys number one. No doubter for me. Uh worst worst song ever put to paper and put on track. I just Yeah. No, I’m with you there. That is a playlist of awfulness that I am not going to listen to on my way home today. Someone on a Someone that’s watching, make this into a Spotify playlist. Everything we’ve talked about and everything we’ve mentioned alongside Yeah. pull the other shitty songs that we brought up, too. Yes, please. Surf USA is going to be the only good one.
