  1. That is exactly what you said. People only hear what they want. Try and make the playoffs. You can't tank, for it isn't a 100% chance to get the number 1 overall 1st pick.

  2. I agree that the number of picks as well as the quality of the picks they kept during the JR/Hextall regimes were clearly not enough to expect a pipeline of young talent to be well stocked, but if you look at the actual draft record, specifically for JR, that is definitely a major negative that seemingly nobody ever addresses about his time here. With the NHL draft being such a crapshoot it’s crazy that he didn’t find at least one or two roster mainstays in 6-7 drafts.

  3. Good morning DK, you're definitely correct about "quality " vs "quantity (with talent)" draft picks. You know, unless they're Sid, Mario, Gavin….sorry had to lol The one that you mentioned from all those picks that is the most embarrassing is Kasperi…OUCH!! What a promising pick that turned out to be the worst we've done, then JR went out and gave away another first for him plus something else I believe, and then look. Our Pens farm within the next couple of years will be looking very good! And btw, I heard you correctly yesterday lol Blessings to you always DK, your friend from Langley, BC Canada 🇨🇦 Victor

  4. The left-defense is worst in the league, but unfortunately the right-side with Karlsson, Letang, Clifton and Dumba isn't all that far behind. I mean the Pens best and highest paid defenseman doesn't actually play defense … and never has … and the Pens second best defenseman is 38 and clearly in the very, very twilight of his career (and I say that with no glee, as the man has clearly given it his all through tremendous adversity throughout his life).

  5. I agree DK, Get that LHD. It's not hard to see why, but I hope he's on the higher end and ready. I'm still excited about the up coming development of the young players. Thank you DK, great show

  6. Got some ideas for you here on the LD.

    1. Carolina has 4 LD and 2 RD, and the quality on the left far exceeds the quality on the right. You're not getting Slavin, Miller or Nikishkin but you could trade Karlsson with retention to Carolina for a 2026 1st and Gostisbehere. Not an ideal 1LD but he's done it before and only has two years remaining at 3.2m. Add an asset and fill the LD hole in one convenient piece of work. Meanwhile I can't think of a better partner in the NHL for Karlsson than Slavin. It would be poetry on ice.

    2. Help Edmonton out and get one of Dubas's guys with Darnell Nurse. He's overpaid but he can play. Crazy idea: Send Jarry to EDM for Nurse, no retention either way. Bad contract for bad contract and we try to rehab Nurse while the rising cap makes his cap hit not look so bad. Risky thoughx given the many years of term left.

  7. Future J1Q: With over 13MM in cap space – and camp just a month or so away – what are they waiting for in terms of using the money to upgrade the team? Since it is a use it or lose it scenario, and we pretty much agree the Pens aren't keeping the powder dry to load up for a Cup run in 25-26,,,,why would they keep the money unspent and if they don't spend it: what might that say about FSG's stance on the team?
