Kirby Dach’s knee rehab could have a HUGE impact on the Montreal Canadiens’ lineup heading into the 2025-26 NHL season. In this episode, Kosta explains how Dach’s recovery is shaping up and what it means for the Canadiens’ depth at the 2C (second-line center) position. Will Kirby Dach return stronger and finally claim that critical center role behind Nick Suzuki? Or will Kent Hughes be forced to look elsewhere for a reliable second-line center?
Montreal Canadiens fans won’t want to miss this deep dive into the Habs’ center depth chart and how Dach’s health could shape the forward lines. We also look at possible alternatives within the Canadiens’ system, including players like Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen and whether the Habs might target a trade or free agent to fill the void if Dach isn’t ready.

5:07 Nope not Bolduc. Evan’s is a curious option though. I honestly believe he could easily handle that slot on a line with Demidov. About hurting the 3rd line. Thats a trade I’m willing to make. If Velano can handle the 2nd he’d be perfect for the 3rd.
dont forget team building…Ill be really tempted to put Demidov on the first line , but lets say Laine,Demi and??? why not Evans? he can do whats need to be done to enable those 2 monsters. AND!!! lets see someone take the 2c spot from him. Thats how u dont make an ottawa out of you.
I haven't heard that Bolduc was considered as a centre. Newhook is not a 2C and his production is not that of a 2nd line winger. I agree with trying Velano at 2C but …..
If indeed Dach can't start the year, Hughes must admit he made an error and go out and get a 2C. I had hoped the Canadiens would be able to wait it out with Dach and then trade from some position of strength not desperation. Other GMs will be licking their lips when Hughes calls asking about a centre.
If McTavish could be obtained for a first and a prospect, it would be a steal.
Think there isn't a typical "Allo Police Media" hidden agenda?
not anger. passion, and its why we are here!
tell it how it is coach
This is normal… the doctors will not sign off on contact or the type of scrimmages some of the players are doing now… and the Montréal Canadiens Physio department will want to be there when he starts his skating full-time…. we know he’s been on the ice. We have seen videos.
This story spunds fishy. We have seen Dach skating fine and practicing. But this guy has his cousins, nephews, brothers, uncles, former roomate says that he saw him on the gym and he isnt ready.
I will wait for sorces that is a bit more reliable.
Thank you sir. You are right. A rehab workout is not a standard workout.
Good analysis man, I like your approach … it beats all those channels who are pushing the McTavish trade fantasy.
McTavish would cost us assets that we don't want to trade … it would be one step forward and one step backward.
They have many looks to show, 25 soon.
Ducks aren’t looking for picks as per the insiders, they want roster players with a prospect or two so we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks
Let's hope Dach CAN make a comeback and add to the lineup like he did 2 yrs. Ago .!! Be positive people !! Hughes and Gorton stated that they still believe that Dach can and will be a player that develops and fits into this group .!! They know MORE than you do ..!! So …lets trust in the process.!! Go Habs !!
As an ex athletic therapist, it's always about returning to maximum range of motion and developing the strength of the "bad" leg to meet the same strength as the "good" leg. Different workout days may involve different exercises. You can't take one pic on one day and make a general view of things. The Habs medical and training staff are among the best in the league.
Source for the report?
From Dach or his doctor or from a know it all reporter
Cuz this is an oped more than a confirmed news story
Regardless
Hughes and Gorton are not sitting here today wondering if Dach will play 30 games , 50, 70… or waiting for dans Les coulisses reports to figure out their season 😂
They need to shore up middle 6 C position
If they want a legitimate shot at playoffs, can’t rest your laurels on
Dach healthy or not
Newhook improved faceoffs or not
Kapanen , Beck, Bolduc…
Veleno.
Nah there is only one real hole in line up or position of weakness at it’s the middle 6 C’s
Evans can be used anywhere sure but 2C needs depth replacement in case of injury or play regardless
Owen Beck is definitively better than Dach
Hes made of glass
Newhook is not either 1rst center nor a 2nd center sadly and Dach is immensely unreliable as he is constantly injured and will be all his career …. he is either super unlucky or has glass bones which plays against him greatly ….. he seems to have talent but when you dont play you cannot show it for the team. To me it seems we do not have the proper 2nd Center we need in the team right now, hopefully they are able to get McTavish to fill that spot.
CLICK BAIT
Can’t agree more with the beginning of this man, WELL SAID ! I broke and dislocated my ankle 5 months ago ( in front of the bell center i might add, heading to the habs – buffalo game ) and its still hard for me to get back since surgery to just walking normally without it swelling and hurting. I have such a newfound respect for athletes coming back to a sport like hockey, with the hitting and physical impacts on the body and the mind too. Anybody who has NEVER been injured, will never undertand and will just criticize criticize and criticize like a lot of the fans and dumb media in mtl
Thank you for setting things straight
