This is a Chet Atkins, Travis picking arrangement of a famous blues tunes by W.C Handy. I worked it out from a video of Paul Yandell playing this arrangement on a Gibson archtop guitar, which you can find here on YT. It’s a great one to learn in order to get comfortable with the Travis picking style as it has many of the essential techniques commonly used in this style of guitar. As always, I hope you have fun and best of luck with this tune 🙂

  1. Hey guys, if you like videos like this one and want to keep seeing more then please consider signing up to my Patreon. I plan to never stop uploading ‘watch and learn videos’ on YT for free, but for as little as $4 per month you can have full access to my ever increasing Patreon library where I have the tabs/chord chart and a breakdown lesson for this tune and many others! Every little bit helps tremendously to fund that huge amount of work that goes into producing these videos, so I hope you’ll consider supporting what I do. Either way, happy picking everyone 🙂 patreon.com/camilojamesguitar

  2. Great cover!!! What’s the best way in your opinion to establish thumb independence from the rest of your fingers in order to do those bass lines? Thats the main thing I struggle with every time I attempt to learn these travis pickin songs

  3. Really good arrangement and playing of this classic. And your guitar sounds great. What is this guitar you are playing here?
