Having high end prospects isn't sufficient to conclude a team will be good.
If accumulating high end prospects was enough to guarantee success, Buffalo should have won multiple cups in the past decade. For years their prospect pool has been rated near the very top.
Just as point totals aren't everything when evaluating players.
There a tons of 100+ point guys from OHL that never made it to the NHL.
For example what do Nathan Robinson, Corey Locke, Rob Schremp, Justin Azevedo, Jason Akson, Mike Sgarbossa, Aaron Luchuk, and Matthew Maggio have in common?
They led the OHL in points, never really made a impact in the NHL.
Kevin Labanc, Kyle Wellwood, Connor Brown also won and at least became NHL regulars in the middle 6 for a while.
OHL gets easier with age as body gets more developed.
I have been a Sharks fan since watching them in the Cow Palace in their days of being the absolute worst in the NHL. It's been a decent amount of time since I was feeling emotionally invested in this team in a way that wasn't just casually checking scores at the end of the night. Wonder what lottery pick they'll pull this year isn't a great headspace to be in at the start of a season. It's just about time to jump back in with both feet.

What a phenomenal video, well done. What Mike Grier has done to turn this franchise around is nothing short of amazing. This season won't be a playoff year but they are building something special and it should be a bigger leap in the standings than last place.
Grier's drafted players seem to all be working out, so much so that there is not going to be much room for some and they will be moved for established players. We haven't seen this kind of prospect depth ever in San Jose.
i hope we finally get the cup win we deserve with this core. with asky looking as good as he is and all that insane talent up front, this might be the best team the sharks have ever fielded which says a LOT.
