NHL.com released its recent Super 16 Power Rankings to cap off the month of July. They placed the Carolina Hurricanes fifth in their recent Power Rankings. However, they had some concerns from the Hurricanes, especially in one area of their roster/game. What does it mean for the Hurricanes, and are the NHL.com writers accurate in their concern? On the Friday Edition of Locked On Hurricanes, host Zach Martin shares his thoughts on what NHL.com posted with their concerns about the Hurricanes. They believe the defense is vulnerable with the losses of Brent Burns, Dmitry Orlov, and Scott Morrow. But are they, though? Secondly, Zach shares why he believes that the Hurricanes’ defense is not vulnerable, not even in the slightest. He also shares his reasoning behind this perspective on the Hurricanes’ defense. Finally, Zach concludes the show sharing where he believes the Hurricanes should be in the power rankings, and what makes the defense exciting to watch this upcoming 2025-26 season. All of that, and more, on the latest episode of Locked On Hurricanes.

They also said we were going through a rebuild last year, right?? I mean, if a rebuild is ECF, I can't wait to see what this season holds. The whole Miller is a bad defender by Rangers fans, and the NHL just seems like the typical Canes hate. I've never listened to or cared about the outsiders' opinions
Hockey journalists are just trying to manifest Erik Karlsson to Carolina. They have been beating that drum all summer.
Clearly a guy from the national media that didn’t watch how poorly both burns and Orlov played in moments during the season. Orlov cannot skate and wasn’t worth the $8 million AAV he was getting that’s why he wasn’t a top pair and was put with the work horse in Chatfield . Burns was a little more consistent but still had times where his body was catching up to his age and would be slower but was still an affective player. So we replace them with Miller and Nikishin . Sounds like somebody doesn’t watch that much hockey period .
The defence will be fine, though I do think it’ll be weaker than last season’s.
You know they’re reaching when they count Morrow as a big loss when he barely even played in the regular season. I bet they didn’t even know who he was until the trade either
Played with grown men? Pretty sure a man is a man in his 20s
