  1. Early game this season at the Kings. I was saying yesterday that I need to get tickets because it might be the last time to see my favorite athlete! My young kids have seen him a few times already and my daughter is now old enough that it might stick 😂🤘🤘

  2. Appreciate you answering the question DK. When I said, "sitting pretty in a Top 3-4 Lottery slot", I meant our own pick. With 32 teams now, and soon to be 34? You definitely need that edge of a star. We'll agree to disagree, keep up the good work:)

  3. Don't want Pens to tank. But it would come from management not the players. I'm doubt Sid or really most professional athlete would want any part of putting 50% effort in to games in order to give themselves a shinny new teammate with a load of talent.

  4. I hope geno stays with the penguins as long as he can contribute in a meaningful way. I do not want him to block young players, which he isn't. But I think that a shift to the wing at some point (if he resigns) might help the penguins prioritize trading for or developing the next 2c and having that player ready and in place for the teams rise to contention.

  5. The big thing about the blues run is that it was one and done. People want a rebuild because they want a competitive team every year. This team is middle of the pack and trending down. Once Crosby is done it’s going to get bad, fast. This team hasn’t made the playoffs in 3 years with him. Without a star in the pipeline to replace him they are looking at a rough future. Why make an effort at the hope for a low % one and done run like the blue that could hold them back from the rebuild?

  6. I like to think we have a different team every year. Although we have most of the same old, I hope the new team will get the sour taste out of my mouth. I don't want to think the puck will go into the net, I want to see the puck go into the net. I don't want the excuse the other team had our number, I want our team to have the chance to win every game.
For the past few years, I've been like my parents watching a Pirates game. They would fall asleep before the fourth inning. That's been happening to me for the past few years with da Pens. I hope this new team bucks that trend. LGP! (let's go pens)

  7. DK – The Florida Panthers are a good example. Yes, they have Barkov who's undoubtedly the player you want to draft to build around, but the rest of the big players on that team were acquired, not drafted. They don't even have a TRUE #1 defenseman. There's no Makar, Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox or even an Erik Karlsson. Their highest scoring dman had 33 points. Their goalie? Not drafted by them. They were built with smarts and savvy. So yes, drafting a Barkov would go a long way, but having a shrewd savvy GM is another way. Here's to hoping Dubas is that man.

The Vegas Golden Knights. They made their first cup run with what generational talent? None. Wasn't William Karlsson their #1 center that year? They won their cup with players they acquired. Who's to say Dubas won't be able to find an Eichel-type situation out there? Nobody thought Buffalo would ever move him.

Teams can be built in many different ways.

  8. Happy Birthday Geno ! Age is just a number, There is a lot of wisdom and experience when it comes to all the older players. The mix of younger and older players is necessary. Thank you DK, Great show

  9. Tanking is never the answer. Nothing could be more anti Pittsburgh. Add in the uncertainty of the lottery and it’s not worth it. You wanna watch a loser go to PNC.. also losing for a year or three greatly diminishes Syds time left. Tanking ain’t the way.

  10. No one's the equal of Mario Lemieux. But Malkin is Lemieux-esque in that all the injuries can kind of obscure how great he really is/was. What happened is what happened. But for the sake of argument, if Malkin hadn't been so hampered by injuries and had played the same number of games as Ovechkin, assuming his P/GP stayed the same (1.11), Malkin would be sitting at 10th all-time in NHL scoring with 1,655 points, right behind Sid.

Now you can do all kinds of funny stuff with statistics. Malkin is dead even with Pavel Bure in career P/GP. But much like Bure, you might not realize just how great they both were if you just look at the career totals. They both missed a lot of hockey, which opened the door for some bonehead takes about them.

  11. DK- I was wondering what you would think of moving Geno into a wing spot and letting Novak potentially take some mins as our 2C. Now that Sully isn't coach Muse may be more willing to let a winger hang back as F3 (Geno) and let Novak forechek a tad more. I feel like taking some of defensive strain of playing center nay give geno more quality mins

  12. Great Geno appreciation show DK. Sid’s usually been my favourite player of all time, but I’ve always had such a soft spot for Geno. Sharing his bday(but in 87)definitely helps. I really hope he plays with Sid and they both retire together after another long playoff run. Wishful thinking? I hope not…

  13. FFS man it will take a miracle for the Penguins to finish outside the bottom 5 of the league next season! They've already started the tank and the season is still weeks out. Sid can't get them to the playoffs alone, and as much as I appreciate Geno—39 dude! The Pens are cooked before this season even starts, and that's just how Dubas wants it.
