Rossi is currently in Austria, and Kaprizov is currently in Russia. The team won't solve the Rossi contract until Kaprizov re-signs, and they'll want Kaprizov in the US for that, meaning nothing is going to happen until closer to Labor Day. Also, THG mentioned $12 mill/yr for Kaprizov, which is a pipe dream. There's a good chance the number is closer to $15 mill/yr with the cap rising.
Rossi isn't worth 7 or 8 mill/yr x 7 years at this point is his career, and it's been insinuated that his camp believes he's worth the same or more than Boldy. Wild fans treat this like some great injustice to Rossi, but I don't think he's a 2C on a Cup winning team. He doesn't drive play, is so-so at faceoffs, gets outworked on puck battles, etc. He has a high floor but I think his ceiling is modest. He hasn't been offer-sheeted, which demonstrates interest in him at a certain $$ figure isn't as high as fans think it is.
We've been so starved for center (centre) help in Minnesota that we're overvaluing a good but not great center. "Just pay him already" is such a lazy way to approach this. He's gonna have to come down to $6 mill/yr or sign a prove-it short-term deal. I'm happy the Wild are being firm on this. He's a nice player and a great kid, but he's not a "blank check" "name your price" player.
It was made clear by Oilers insiders that Mcdavid wanted his time off and the team to focus on everyone else before they'd get to his new deal. This is the exact same thing that Draisaitl wanted last summer.

I'm not a fan of teams not naming Captains if their future captain is already on the team and not in their first or second year. But a player like McAvoy? He's played 8 years already. If he is going to be captain there is no point in waiting. There is only a purpose in waiting if they want someone else. It was like all those years Kaberle was the spiritual captain of the Leafs between Sundin and Phaneuf, but was never given the actual C.

Much much more concerned with a kaprizov deal getting done than a Rossi deal. I really like both players, but kaprizov is the best player the Wild have ever had while they have had Rossi-level players in the past

DAZN seemed pretty scammy when I got it for the CWC (football tournament).
The DAZN deal is a terrible news for hockey worldwide, here in France DAZN had the rights to the football french league last year until the league choose to actually broke the deal IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST SEASON because DAZN was doing such a terrible job of broadcasting the games (it was really appaling, they clearly were spending the least they could spend) and robbing the fans with overpriced subscription so called services with hidden fees, no one could seemingly get out of, AND eventually tried to force the league hand by refusing to pay rights they had agreed to (putting most of the clubs in the league in a very bad position as tv rights are their main financial lifeline … as you may have heard we have relegations in our sports leagues in europe). Now their legal strategy in the dispute is to pretend they overpaid for tv rights, because they were lied to by the league over its value … like it's not their responsability to evaluate investments in the first place ! They are the worse … and already been fined 35M€ for it (case just starting) i hope the nhl won't have to regret this decision but it will probably !
If mcdavid leaves the oilers i will happily become a mcdavid fan (it's nothing personal oilers fans it's a rivalry)
I'm not saying he should take a team-friendly haircut, but Rossi could do a lot worse than playing along side Kaprizov, Boldy, Zuccarello and Tarasenko. Those guys will create a lot more points for Rossi than Rossi will for them, a bunch of skilled playmakers. A bridge deal with a 6.5m aav seems win-win.
