Vinzenz Rohrer, drafted in Round 3, #75 overall in the 2022 draft seems to have progressed rather nicely after an impressive world championship tournament for Austria. I agree 100% with what Drew said here, I just wanted to throw Rohrer’s name into the mix.😊
Well done on the DD Top 10 list. I liked the reasoning on picks #1 and #2, completely agree! As for the others…all I will say is I would fully agree with your picks HOWEVER, since picks #4 to #10 have not yet cracked the Habs roster…things can change quickly. Other than the obvious being players possibly being traded away because lets be realistic…not all these Top 10 players will be a Hab…there is not room for everyone (and fans should be ready if they really want that elusive elite 2C…you gotta pay to get what you want so don't get too attached to anyone). Now with that said, Hughes has skillfully been able to avoid giving up any of our core players and our top prospects (except maybe the Bolduc for Mailloux trade but that was a good hockey deal). I have my concerns with the trade availability of players like Reinbacher, Engstrom, Hage and Koivu (meaning I think 1 or 2 of these players could eventually be moved)…but IN HUGHES I TRUST, so we shall have to wait and see. I personally think Florian Xhekaj if he can continue to mature his game could shoot up the ranking as this Hab team needs a player with his skill set & physicality…and my honourable mentions for me would be Oliver Kapanen, Hayden Paupanekis, Luke Mittelstadt and any of the drafted 2025 goalies (Radkov or Cournoyer).
If Hutson was 6"00" tall he would have been in the top 15, but he was undervalued due to his size. Demidov was undervalued because he is Russian or else he would have been gone on the first 2 picks.
