Florida Panthers acquire Seth Jones from Blackhawks | Panther Pourri Express
The Florida Panthers have acquired right-handed defenseman Seth Jones from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2026 (or 2027) first-round pick, as well as Spencer Knight.
What do we think of the move? Well watch the video and you’ll find out…
I know I’m not the only one who remembers (and wished) Montour got kicked off PP1 for the panthers during the SCF and single singlehandedly gave up 2 SHs in game 5 + 6
Seth Jones is far superior to Ben Chiarot. He’s an excellent skater, strong puck mover, great at outlet passing and board battles, plays PP and PK, and is highly regarded in the locker room. With the best supporting cast of his career and a $7M cap hit in a rising cap era, acquiring him offers great value while maintaining roster flexibility.
As a Hawks fan. Seth Jones was a major part of the problem with the Hawks Defense. Jones doesn’t score doesn’t block shots he can’t play the boards. The only thing he did was eat alot of ice time. He was supposed to be the Blackhawks captain last year to mentor the young players and that’s why the Hawks didn’t have a captain. When the team loses he’s the first to the media to blame everyone else. Bad lockerroom morale. Hawks win the trade all day.
Blackhawks fan here. You guy didn't just flat lose this trade, you lost it badly. You traded a young goalie that could become a starter. A 1st in a very good draft for a locker room cancer and turnover machine on D. Whose offense is very very overrated.
Good luck. I'm glad he's your problem now. Not ours.
Yea sorry Panthers fans, this is how us Hawks fans felt when he came from Columbus lol, Jones is a liability and was getting outplayed by our rookie D.
The Hawks had ONE 4 game win streak this season, it was when Jones was injured and out for……you guessed it 4 games.
Edit: Hawks were on a 7 game loss streak entering last night, Jones got traded and the Hawks finally won again.
As a Hawks fan, I'm going to try to be as unbiased as possible. Seth Jones will help your team. I think for the next 1-2 years, he's going to be an asset at $7m per year. The guy can skate, he can move the puck, he eats minutes, etc. But when I saw this return, my head almost hit the ceiling. Jones is not consistent, he lacks focus and I think he hurts the team more than he helps them. A lot of people say "his numbers suck because the team sucks" and there is some truth to that. However, when you play 30 minutes a night, part of the reason why they suck is due to Seth Jones' play. The first game without him, on the road vs. Anaheim, they won easily 6-3. The Hawks points percentage is much higher when Jones is out of the lineup then when he's in there. I thought we might get a 2nd round pick with 30% retained. We got a first rounder and Spencer Knight for 26% retention? That's highway robbery. I hope you guys win another cup. Flags fly forever. But I'm so happy with this return.
Hawks fan here, first of all congrats on your first cup, well earned. That said, ignore the haters that I see already gathering, I suspect many have issues other than his play to hate him.
most of the defense of this trade has to do with a faith in Zito’s body of work and not on the actual trade. I mean, jones is not montour, forsling, oel, bennett. He’s his own guy, and just because Zito did well with those guys doesnt mean this trade is going to work out.
Comparing Seth jones to Ben charot is criminal. He’s a much better player. Seth jones was on a absolute dog shit team. He will be paired up with a much better defense partner and team overall around him.
I'm gonna bet this is another boss move by Zito that's gonna pay off big. First Rd pick when your near top of the league looks better than it is. And the jury is still out in Spencer Knight imo. Jones is underrated. We shall see.
Panther fan here. First time viewing your channel. Judging Zito on A MISS and not on his hits is pretty dumb. Seems to be an underlying motive by two of the co-hosts. "Not worth 7 million" but paying 4.5 million to a guy who missed an entire year because he washed his hands constantly, is fine. Foolish logic. Last time viewing your channel.
Zito made 2 mistakes. Ben and Giroux. Giroux was a total waste and we lost tippit. I personally love the trade. Jones is what this team needed. Time will tell all.
Blackhawks fan here – While Jones wasn't loved by the fan base here (also because he's DEFINITELY overpaid), he was still a reliable 1D for us. He will slide into your second line very well. This was a win win for both teams. Thanks for Knight. We desperately needed a talented young goalie.

Florida is the best possible place Seth Jones could have gone. He’s gonna be a great fit here

Bill work at Clombus while Seth was there.
Have fun with that contract for an average D-man.
lol if u win a cup u gonna seem so 😭😭😭 rn
Can’t wait to see the Florida reactions on Jones typical momentary lapses of reason.
Alex is the only one on this that knows what he’s talking about. Other two sound like they started watching hockey tomorrow

In a few months I think comparing Chiarot to Jones is gonna look really dumb. Im familiar with both and they don't compare in anyway shape or form.

TJ with an all time worst take picking Giordano’s over Lou’s. But also Tavern style is better than both!
