Hunter and Patrick start the show discussing how prospects Benjamin Kindel, Harrison Brunicke, Will Horcoff, and Mac Swanson, along with Melvin Fernstrom, are faring at the WJC Summer Showcase. They also talk about how, while you don’t want to overreact to their performances, you do want to see how they play with elite talents. Finally, they react to The Athletic’s broadcast ranking,s which had the Penguins surprisingly low.

Lucius has a long road to making it to the NHL from what I've seen. But he's still an interesting prospect that does get forgotten a lot in Guentzel-trade conversations. The same people that can remember Fernström in the Pettersson deal and will point out the Penguins still technically own (the best kind of own) the rights to Ponomarev — will flatout forget Cruz Lucius exists. They may even be right too. Lots of NCAA players to follow in the near future for the Pens at any rate. Which is very nice.
I will say, watching the U-20 World Juniors this December is going to be fun, because we are going to have multiple Penguin prospects participating.
Team Canada you will more than likely have Ben Kindel – only reason he didn't make the team last year, is he didn't turn 18 until April, but he was on the U-18 Team last year. Harrison Brunicke may make it, even if he makes the team out of camp.
Team USA – I think there is good chance Will Horcoff can make it and we'll have to see about Melvin Fernstrom on Team Sweden.
Pretty sure Zonnon's gonna be the designated 19 year old playing in WBS next year.
For me Meast was another level. I hated seeing him go. Mears, EJ Hradek, and Jackie Redmond were really good on NHL Live before Mears made the jump
If the Pens get lucky in the draft lottery, on the 2026 draft and Get Gavin McKenna, that would be huge for them.
Disappointed bill zonnon was left off team canada for this prospect showcase
Jay Caufield is fantastic. His new podcast with Rob King is really great too
Sadly after Lang retired there is no broadcasting that will be as good we was so spoiled
