  1. I think it's risky to hit total ROCK bottom in a rebuild because often it takes years to get back out, and even then in still more cases it can take more than one try if things don't go your way. 🤷‍♂

  2. You can't pay everybody all the money they want. That's why I get so sick of trades. The worst trade is the free agent salary dump. Sometimes I think it's better to let them go without getting anything in return. The team and the player can easily get caught between a rock and a hard place.

  3. Anyone who wants to hit rock bottom doesn't remember the generation x teams. That was some of the most wretched hockey ever, if you weren't watching then, count your hockey blessings. DK I know you were there, I know you recall the greatness of Fata, Surovy, and Tarnstrom

  4. I still think we would need a lottery pick. The odds of getting a Jake in the third is low. Is it lower than winning the lottery when finishing last? Either way you gotta get lucky

  5. Assuming we do trade Karlsson, we would have at least $20+ mil in cap space, unless we got a few expensive contracts back, which has not been the Dubas strategy thus far. What can we do with this money at this point?

  6. Even if the dont find that uber prospect, hopefully they'll have a solid cheap team in place to the point that going out and buying a star will make sense in a year or two. Cap space is an asset just like draft picks are

  7. How did pens go bankrupt ? I know but i wont tell. Mario another heist?. U all know about his 1990s contract details. Sickening

  8. I agree DK, They do not need a complete rebuild, they just need to get some young talent on board. Thank you for all you do

  9. This team does not have free agents on the horizon to sign to turn things around (the big names I doubt penguins get)….they don't have guys coming up that will be playoff impact players right away (minus the chance of a Jake in the system)….so that leaves trades and drafting….if you are striving to be contending in short order, during Sid's time, the draft is off the table….that leaves the trade route…sadly Dubas' history on trades is not great (mediocre at best)….so if I was looking at this objectively and being pragmatic….the chance of a quick turn around is low given the info above…the likelihood of a longer rebuild is more likely….And DK your point about the environment of success makes players better….sadly we don't have that right now…the team has excellence with Sid, but the team is not excellent and that culture can shape a players development….it is why teams that go through rebuild…stay in rebuild for long long period of times….read Chicago, Buffalo, Ottawa, etc etc etc
