I would like to see Carolina break through past the conference finals especially for Brind’amour
What I love most is that Tulsky, Brind'Amour and Dundon are shattering the idea of a 'cup window' with this team.
Best win percentage in the league over the last 6 years. Playoffs 7 years in a row. Serious cup contender for 5 years. Most teams would be cap-strapped and aging after a run like that, but the 'Canes are set up to maintain success for a decade to come, with youth and cap space to burn.
Can’t be splitting up staal and martinook. That line combo is in stone
TOP 3. I'd put Canes in top 3 (along with VGK, FLA) most likely to win a cup in 25/26, especially with adds Ehlers and Miller.
God I hate that era of hurricanes jerseys they are so bad 😂
Looking at their competition in the Metro, I'd say this roster is good enough to place top 3 as is. Add to that the fact that they have $10+ mil in cap space that they can sit on all season waiting for the right deal, and their situation is looking pretty comfortable.
LETS GOOOO been waiting for dis
If Reaver can ruin Jeannots career, then Svechnikovs rookie season fight against Ovi certainly had a effect on him
They have only won one game in the conference finals since winning the Stanley cup. I have to wonder how long they can stay competitive before crashing out because getting so close to the edge but still losing out is probably getting to the GM of the Hurricanes and I feel they are desperate for the win.
Hey Shannon. Just letting you know if you didn't, but Rod has said over the summer that he is heavily considering moving Stankoven or Jarvis to 2C.
My outside opinion is they didn't need to do anything to remain a top team in the Metro . Which of their divisional rivals has made giant steps to challenge them
Duuuude, 20 years since they won it in '06. I remember seeing it on NBC when it happened. And now my elbows hurt more.
If you look at the line up for March 2024 you will see that there is only 8 remaining players from only 16 months ago. Many of the players that are no longer there were long time core players. The Canes have quietly rebuilt their team without missing a step.
Everyone can't stop talking about the 2C spot…. can you make a video ranking all the 2Cs?
I honestly think Ryan Suzuki should have one of those center spots. He lead the Wolves in points and was a great playmaker that lead to many of Nedeau and Morrow goals. He is also good in shootouts, something the Canes need help in. Just like you have been a fan of Stankhoven for years, I have been a big Suzuki fan.
In my opinion he should have been center over Jack Drury for the last two years. Ryan Suzuki could be your 2C!
Also you never split Martinook and Staal!!! Never! In my opinion that should be your 4th line as it is a checking line. Probably the best in the league but still a checking line. Drop KK to 3C with Hall and Blake
Martinook Staal Robinson as 4th line. As it stands now the Canes have 2- 4th lines. 4A and 4B
Hellebuyck would have been an amazing Cane. Shaky on the road & exceptional at home, come April
I'm like you THG. As a Canes fan I'm worried their weakness is in the 2nd line at center. That needs to be addressed big time.
Still my pick to win the Cup next year – Florida damaged the Cup, and as we saw with Colorado, the hockey Gods punish such transgression, which should leave the door open for the 'Canes.
I think we'll have a great season, we've repalced the oldest/slowest parts of our team (Burns/Orlov) with younger and faster players. We've made some big trades and getting a full season of Nikishin will be great. (Hes technically unproven but he was awesome in the playoffs, and hes got a crazy shot).
As for our goaltending, Kochetkovs issues are all mental. He has all the tools needed to be amazing but he needs to stay out of his head, which is why Freddie is a perfect mentor for him.
If yall remember Kochetkov had a pretty good run up until an LA Kings game where he got lit up for 7, and that messed him up mentallly. I believe in him though.
Ehlers will be great to see, Blake is gonna have an even better season, I think Svech is bouncing back from his ACL so we'll see an uptick there, and im expecting Jarvis to put up 40+ goals.
LETS GO CANES!
soft teams just dont win cups..every year the Hurricanes are at the bottom of the league in hits and then their fans wonder why they never make the Finals..till they get much more physical in the playoffs?? forget it
Either gonna be a dynastic flop that never wins or they win multiple the next 8yrs. Im leaning flop tho
I really hope Pyotr Kochetkov has a good season this year and he keeps improving. I love watching him in net.
I believe we are two half-pieces away from making the Finals, and from there it's a crapshoot. We need to answer that 2nd Line Center question, and we need either a healthy Andersen, a next-step-taken Kochetkov, or some sort of answer in the crease. I think Andersen COULD be that guy, and I think Kotkaniemi has the potential to figure things out, hence two half-pieces away.
Nope.
Friendly reminder that Carolina was playing in the conference finals with 4 players who, prior to this season, hadn’t played in a full NHL season (Nikishin, Stankoven, Blake, Morrow). Things could be looking very bright for years to come in Raleigh.
