Edmonton Oilers News | Trent Frederic Set To Sign 8 Year Deal
welcome back everyone my name is Patrick you’re watching the Oilers rundown well it hasn’t even been 24 hours since the Edmonton Oilers were unfortunately tragically eliminated from the Stanley Cup finals by the Florida Panthers the Florida Panthers three straight years in the Stanley Cup finals back-to-back Stanley Cup champions they’re a team that frustrates all of us a lot of people don’t like them but you have to respect how just damn good that team is the Oilers were definitely beaten by the better team in these finals and there’s a lot of things the Mton Oilers will have to look at this summer to try and be better if they’re going to make a third attempt to get back to the finals themselves next year and to finally get over that hump one player that the Evston Oilers believe will help them in doing that is forward Trent Frederick who they picked up at the trade deadline this past season for a couple of draft picks trent Frederick didn’t really stand out too much in this year’s playoffs in 22 games played he picked up one goal added three assists for four points and was a plus one overall he’s a guy that we talked about quite a few times that we’d like to see more from obviously the big thing with Trent Frederick was his injury coming into the Stanley Cup playoffs he was able to come back he tried one attempt during the regular season i think he played like six minutes in a game against the LA Kings had to leave again due to that injury and then we didn’t see Trent Frederick back until the Stanley Cup playoffs i think we saw a glimpse of what we could possibly see with Trent Frederick a big guy that hits he can score goals but didn’t really realize that potential yet with the Edmonton Oilers but it looks like the Oilers are on the verge of signing him to an 8-year deal in the range of 4 million per season according to St louis based insider Andy Strickland and just as I finished recording there was an update on this from insider Frank Saravali he reports “Don’t expect the Oilers to announce a deal in the near future as they’re engaging in talks with other current roster players but as has been speculated expect Trent Frederick’s next deal to come in at 8 years and north of 3.5 million but south of 4 million in AAV over the course of that deal the salary cap is expected to continue to rise probably in years we’ll call it 6 7 8 $4 million for a player is going to be considered quite the bargain if a fully healthy Trent Frederick can come into Edmonton next fall bring some of those intangibles that we saw with the Boston Bruins a few years back in 2023 2024 in 82 games played so the full season 18 goals 22 assists 40 points a plus nine we talked about all year long that the Edmonton Oilers needed more physicality needed more guys who can bring that physicality and also score at the same time and Trent Frederick is potentially one of those players as I’ve said he was hurt when he came in from Boston we haven’t seen the player that I think Trent Frederick fully can be so if the Oilers do do this deal and it sounds like it’s just a matter of time before the Edmonton Oilers announce his 8-year extension then this is a deal that like I said has the potential to really work out well for the Edmonton Oilers but at the same time if Trent Frederick doesn’t realize his potential then an 8-year deal at $4 million per season could potentially be problematic but with the rising cap the Oilers could probably find ways around it if it ultimately doesn’t work out but like I said if Trent Frederick can come in deliver some physicality deliver some secondary scoring for the Edmonton Oilers I imagine he’s going to be a top nine forward probably not in the top six for the Oilers but potentially a guy that can move up when he was first acquired I was really interested in what a guy like Trent Frederick could possibly do playing alongside a Conor McDavid maybe not as a full-time gig but I was looking back at a player like Pat Maroon who had the ability to score but just needed an opportunity to go with a playmaker and maybe a Conor McDavid Trent Frederick combination is something we could possibly see or maybe the Oilers just see him as strictly a third line forward we’ll see what happens here guys next fall this is all just a future thing right now for Trent Frederick but like I said I’m potentially excited about this deal it has a lot of different factors to it we’ll discuss it more once it is official from the Edmonton Oilers but for now guys let me know your thoughts on a potential 8-year extension for Trent Frederick at around $4 million per season let me know your thoughts in the comments section below if this is your first visit to the channel and you like what you see please consider liking and subscribing for all the latest Oilers content you’ve been watching the Oilers fanatic thanks for being a fan [Music]

Ridiculous
Fredrick did not have season or value of PodK. Fredrick long term needs to be a team friendly and 4 million is too much. More concerned of Turnover Bouchard getting over paid like Nurse that still haunts the team. Just lost too much speed a team that everyone stepped up to win. Need those types and a goalie.
Give Fredrick time he will master his skills and I promise you everyone saying “Get rid of him!” Are then going to jump on the Fredrick Bandwagon when he starts putting up points as he kills it on the ice.
$4MM a year is waaaaay too much.
Hamstringing them to get offersheeted again.
I really hope this one isn't real and it's just some rumour mill stuff because Trent Frederic was a ghost, who was asking for a 4 million dollar 3rd line winger?
Dont worry. Par for the course. Overpaid oilers contracts. Wait til bouchard signs. Anything over 6.5-7 is too much.
I heard that after this deal with Frederic, then there would only be about $8m left of cap space. I did not mind him and maybe still not back at 100% with his knee. It would be nice to get him at under $3m aav with term. At that price point, if he does not work out in Edmonton, it should be an easy contract to unload.
Oilers under investigation LTIR abuse. 😅 i called it as soon as the media started using the term "tampering". Mcdavid to Atlanta ! No florida tampering with tkachuk? Consistent with the reffing this series.
From my vantage point Frederic is not the main issue. I'd like him to come back. Team needs to get younger and add more speed. We traded Ceci for Emberson. Emberson didn't play at all in the playoffs. Been nice to have a veteran like Ceci back there. How big an upside does Emberson have? Who knows? Maybe this years' experience will help him. Still, I'd like to see some additions on defense. That group clearly not good enough against Florida. Let's not forget that Ekholm is 35 years old. What to do about Bouchard? And, obviously, there has to be improvement in goal. To start with, Jeff Skinner and Arvidsson are gone. Their trade value has probably gone down so that's what we'd have to work around. I'd probably keep Kapanen for his speed and willingness to hit. As for the other bottom six forwards all options are open. Philp, Lavoie and O'Reilly should be given long looks. From what I've heard O'Reilly seems the best of the three to have a chance to stay on the roster past the point where he'd have to go back to junior. If he can score ten goals and play on the third line it would be great. He will only get better. Big wish list. I'd like to have a new general manager. There are a lot of good young executives just waiting for a chance. For instant, Mathew Darche was just hired by the Islanders. Why not someone of his caliber instead of who we have now? I don't have any confidence in him. He made the team weaker, not stronger.
I Say This Next Season Will Be Good For The Oilers For The Start Of The Season
Hey Patrick your rundown came quicker than i thought, great! Keep enjoying your vacation 😎 🍻🍻
Depends what their plans are to fix the blue line and goal tending 😮
I think it’s a tad long with out a great sample so far.
Hopefully it doesnt include a full no move clause.
What will they do with nurse, Bouchard, and skinner?
as long as there is no ⚓ that is the key, hes worth 3 at best though. hope he exceeds what they see in his potential this coming season… we need some different pieces above all though, a goalie would be ideal…
Did he even play in the playoffs? Didn't notice him once,1.5 tops
Podkolzin is the guy we have to fix for the future too
I don't mind this deal, Trent is a beast. But this cost will have repercussions for sure. Maybe there is a nurse outta town deal in making?
He's still recovering from injury, and adjusting to a new team. Put up good numbers 2022-24 with Bruins. Is not new to the league. Hope he can replace the Kane element for several years.
Goalies Goalies Goalies
So quick question: WHY? HE'S A THIRD LINE PLAYER WHO'S INJURED AND HAS NEVER SCORED 20 GOALS A SEASON WHY DO THIS? Sorry, apparently the happy pills wore off and a dose of reality stepped in.
He didn't stand out at all!
But, yes, he was damaged goods when the Oilers got him.
Bruins fan here, what a terrible contract, 8 years 32M for a 4th liner wannabe tough guy? Brutal
I like this Fredrick deal if there is no protection and with the cap rise in the next few years it would be a bargain
8 years? lol umm, why? Frederic?
