Best trade? The entire east was terrorized after Matthew Tkachuk got traded to Florida. He terrorized the Bruins, the Hurricanes, the Lightning, my Leafs, the Rangers and now the Oilers. This guy is not my 2x chamion, he's the dirtiest player in the NHL
The most anyone thought at the time was that Calgary mitigated the damage. They weren’t going to win any trade since they were forced to do it. While they’re not as good a team anymore, at least Weegar has been super helpful. It’s just Huberdeau that struggled and made it clear that the damage wasn’t mitigated. Losing Gaudreau at the same time also destroyed them.
At least Huberdeau started to show signs of improvement last season. Hopefully that keeps up. But yah, I don’t remember many saying that Calgary clearly won. He was going to be a MASSIVE loss and most Flames fans knew it.

Funny the trade I thought of was Wayne Gretzky going to Los Angles
Thinking the flames FLEECED the panthers even back then is questionable hockey knowledge …

Florida won don’t get me wrong but really it just revealed how much better of a team the cats are overall.
Oh
He's better than his dad. He dad was good too. No Cup. No Cup you ain't 💩
The greatest trade was made by the hapless Sabres. the sent backup goalie Stéphane Beauregard and a future draft for Domink Hasek
Obviously, it was a huge trade. Still, it's not the biggest trade in NHL history.
It's why canadian teams will never win the cup again…taxes
johnny gudreau is a great example of why you shouldn't ride bicycles drunk on the road
