Xhekaj is not going to be traded. If Marty can’t assist Arber into becoming a solid D with a fear/ intimidation factor most team crave. Marty will go first. Arber is loved by the fans . Enough said.
Matheson came to play in Montreal when our team was shxt, not fair to ditch a hometown boy who has rendered loyal service.
Whomever gets a needed piece in return is in theory the right choice, however…although Matheson is possibly the better of the 3 right now, his stats declined last season, and the other two (and two of the prospects) will surpass him real soon. Matheson is not suitable to keep around as a 3rd pairing, and this management is focused on 2 to 3 seasons from now. As much as his teammates and management like him, I can't see them keeping Matheson beyond the trade deadline.
Xhekaj is liked by the team mates, he is inexpensive and he can be reliable enough to have limited minutes and be tough.
MSL just have to hammer down stability in his head.
The Habs are a better team with Matheson on it. I am not against Hughes trading him however but it better be a blockbuster type of trade , where the Habs are getting a McTavish type player in return for Matheson and other assets…

Engstrom , Reinbacher and Trudeau are all on deck and the Habs are going to have to make some room for the youngsters, so it would not be a shock if the Habs traded Matheson or even Struble, to make that room..

I do believe Struble is signed to move Matheson and x for McTavish. If he is not feeling Anaheim then it could be another Dobson-type situation at home where we don't break up the band ( AGAIN!) to improve seriously at 2c. IF I am right on this AND it happens then Hughes is GM of the decade point final.

You need to Keep Matheson ( i'm not a big fan of) for 1 to 2 months just to be sure that Kaiden Guhle can play a full season i love Kaiden Guhle but he has never played a full season yet + aqfter 1 or 2 months you should Know if you have a 2 C in the players you have or Need to get 1 so for me Matheson is the one that out but not now in 1 to 2 month .love you 2 guys keep up the great work and to all that reads this please leave a like to Habs Digest so they can keep doing the Great job they do thank you

Matheson maybe odd man our…age and contract doesn't work going forward. Young D take time to.develop, Arber needs more time as does Struble. Reinbacher and Engstrom are coming as well in about a year.

Why did Celebrini make the jump to NHL at like 17. But Hage needs to wait for 20 or 21. That, to me, is a red flag that he may not be that good after all.
MSL is a believer in duos, so why not Laine with Suzuki and Caufield. Slaf and Dach have history, so adding Demidov would create two solid lines. If after 1 month the Laine experiment doesn't work, then switch it up.
Laine/Suzuki/Demidov, Slafkovsky/Dach/Caufield. ….not bad at ll!
I've always said Harris, Barron and Struble were never going to be in the Habs long term plans. Harris and Struble will never be more than 3rd pairing Dmen and Barron's defense was suspect. So it make sense for them to be or have been traded. Guys like Struble are a dime a dozen for 3rd pairing Dmen. Guys like Arber are more rare. He just needs to make better decisions. As for Matheson, he can be our RD while Engstrom and Reinbacher hone their skills in Laval this year. Perhaps Matheson becomes a trade chip at the trade deadline for a short term 2C rental, opening a spot for Reinbacher in time for the playoff push.
If they move Xhekaj there will be an uprising.
Struble is going to be gone by next year. Matheson traded if there's a good offer and Arber is a good 7th dman… realistically he's the guy you dress when you know the game is going to be very physical and/or when someone is injured. Unless he really improved his game he will play less games than last season and I completely agree that being said he's also the one guy I hope we keep the most amongst these 3
With what i'm seeing now, yeah i can see Hage maybe getting some shifts in the playoff.

I'm sorry, but we can't trade Xhekaj. It probably has to be Matheson unless we have injuries. Xhekaj was the best defensive defenceman once he got into the lineup in the playoffs. Nobody mentions that, but it's true. He simplified his game and executed beautifully.
Matheson is light years ahead of the other two. Arber plays zero Pk or PP minutes. struble plays little PK. If you’re looking at Money yes it’s Matheson but he’s the best D man of the 3. Skill? Arber is the least skilled of the 3 but has the top toughness. Struble is a better hockey player than him and was able to keep up with Hutson last year. Arber couldn’t do that

you cant get talent without trading talent. They have their top 4 without Matheson in the roster. Utilize Matheson and a 1st for a 2C…Ooooor trade Matheson for Kadri and a Flames prospect. As soon as Reinbacher gets up to speed they have a playoff consistent team almost ready(if not ready) to contend
