Steve, stop trying to add a Bugatti for the price of a Lada. Clean out the garage. Yes, ONE player to replace Marner was close to improbable but Marners line didn't lose every game for us. Upgrading the 3rd and 4th lines with Marners money makes the team better. Any player on the Matthew's line has to share points on, say 150 goals a season. Whether that's 40 goals and 60 assists or 60 goals and 40 assists, that's all that's available. If the third and fourth lines only share 40 goals a year, the value is going to be in not giving up goals. The leafs are supposedly a puck possession type of team. More money/skill in the middle/bottom 6 can't be a bad thing. One player can't win the cup with 22 minutes of ice per game, but your bottom 6 has to be much better not to lose you the cup.
