Farrell and Trudeau cannot be sent down to Laval without going through waivers, I believe. Some team, like Pittsburgh, would surely claim Farrell. I could see him being traded as a sweetener to get a team to take Price's contract after Sept 1st.

LJ Mooney = Mats Naslund. Identical size and very similar skills, neither afraid of playing physical.
Hughes already made it clear he wants no calls for trade on Hage or Reinbacher. Competition is high right now, almost all teams are looking to get better, looking for a 2C, it's a bidding war so prices are high. Hughes won't be getting a center, it would cost/sacrifice too much.
The only reason Roy is blocked is simply because he hasn’t proven himself at the nhl level when given the opportunity.

We need to know more about LJ Mooney's bone age. Is he still in the Bone Zone™?
LJ has dangles and shiftiness but I don’t know if he has enough finish for the next level. I really hope he proves me wrong. If he doesn’t develop a better release and power, I don’t see where he can slot into our future lineup. Unless he adds even more feistiness à la Gallagher. Crossing my fingers.
Caufield has finish that was there from the start. It was surprising to see him slide because he had one of the best shots if not the best of his draft class.
I hope Hugues also considers re-rolling the dice on some prospects that don’t have the right path into our lineup. NHL ready or near ready prospect for a couple more picks that he can use as part of a package for a player for our lineup. Picks are generally more liquid for trades. I’m just not sure how likely these types of trades can happen.
Laine is really enjoying the game again. Watch him go🏝️
The ship has sailed on Roy. Unless he somehow finds that extra step this year the return we get for Roy will be no better than the return we received for Primeau. Hard to believe so many saw this kid as a certain top 6 forward.
Buy out Gallagher in 2026, trade Mezar, Trudeau, Roy, Farrell, Kidney.
Make place for Owen and Kapanen.
And FIND 2C to replace Dach.

They said Point was too small, then he won the cup and scored 50. Don't sleep on small players. I'm not saying get a whole team of them but if the kid can score then let him score.
Carrier/Matheson/Xhekaj have no future with the habs if they want to win the cup. By the time they are real competitors some of the younger guys will be the “veteran” players.

I honestly think everyone is overhyp8ng LJ Moony, hes not gonna have any room in the NHL to do all that cute stuff, unlike Cole (elite shot), or Lane (Elite IQ) he doesnt seem to have something that he can rely on and ride to the NHL….imo he's gonna be an AHL super star 🤷🏿♂️
I think Engstrom is likely to be included in a deal, his progress as a LD is crowded as he will have value to teams. Agreed with Roy. Beck can mature in Laval for another few months before coming up for some experience at C or even the wing a bit. Agreed with Kapanen. Decisions on players gets harder from here on out. Don’t let the fruit rot!
