This Marchand Contract is DUMB…
you know who the am I to say anything negative about Florida if you followed up this channel I have spoke very glowingly of the Florida Panthers ZTO is a general manager but this one is a headscratcher Rad Marawn to a 6year deal reportedly $32 million I understand the great run he had He was absolutely brilliant in the locker room He was great on that third line with Lundelle Lion I understand he brings a lot of value and you could argue he should have won the K smite but to sign Brad Marshon who’s already 37 years old to a six-year deal is just downright stupid He’s going to be 43 when this contract is over with I don’t see this deal making much sense He’s a productive player and in the right situation which I think Florida is he can play at a very good level He’s a great middle six guy to have You can’t depend him on being your two or three but you put him on a third line or maybe even some second line minutes with the right line baits He can still go out there and feast on his opponents The main complaint I’d have is the term on this deal If the Panthers signed him to a 2-year deal worth this I’d see less of a problem with this But six years for a guy that’s had some hip procedures done And if you look at things objectively has slowed down a bit and you’ve also seen some of that shiftiness start to wayne I’m not sure how well this deal will age Now if the Florida Panthers go out there and just go back to back to back and win another Stanley Cup some can argue hey it’s all well worth it Marshon actually helped us go back to back We deserve to pay him But looking at it from just a pure roster management aspect I don’t think this is a great deal I love the player I love Brad Marshon As a Bruins fan I watched him for so many years I love everything about him He’s a type of player that you love to have on your team and you hate to play against him I just think this deal is a bad one in my personal opinion But I’d like to know your thoughts down below in the comments section What did you think of this signing got the ball See you in the next

Your take is arrogant and I'll tell you why: Marchand was traded to Forida for practically nothing in return. In fact, Florida was paying Marchand $125,000 for the playoff run [per TSN]. This was not only a thank you from florida, but an incentive to stay and retire a panther instead of a Bruin. If marchand stays healthy at least 5 of those 6 years this contract pays dividends on and off the ice, not to mention he's a merchandise machine for the back office.

Who cares about that dead space if he still has 3 good years or so in him? This deal will age like a fine wine when the cats hoist 2 more cups in that span.

It is Brilliant Marchand may play 3 years they pay him for an extra 3 Salary cap is going to rise 2 times in that 6 year it is no different than those 20 year Baseball contracts. Marchand gets more than he would anywhere else for the 3 years he is likely to play and he gets Security also.

You are missing the whole point. They are going all in for the next few years. What this contract looks like in 4 years is irrelevant.
Not a headscratcher if you knew what you were talking about. When you're a NHL GM on Zito's level, and understand the construct coupled with the cap over the next two years, you might just have a clue.
Florida would’ve ideally given him a 3-4 year deal worth $8 million/year, but they don’t have the cap space to do it. Solution? They proposed a 6 year deal at a lower AAV with the expectation of buying him out when he wants to retire in 4 years so they could keep him. He was never going to play 6 years… they just can’t give him what he wanted which was a 4 year, $32 million dollar contract.
I'm sure the Panthers got where they are by taking advice from YouTube.
Please. You should stop making these videos if you don't get the point of this deal. This is great deal for player and for the team. He can still make a huge difference just being with team all those years. He is still a beast of player in playoffs. Compare that deal to any Oilers deal that has been done. Those are dumb ones.
Do y’all not understand they’re signing Marchand for 2-3 years? Marchand wants a certain amount of money so they need to spread it out over 6 years to stay under the cap. No one in the panthers expects Brad Marchand to play past 40

What's dumb is this video! It's obvious to EVERYONE with common sense that this move was made to try to achieve a HISTORIC THREE-PEAT!! …and possibly a 4th or 5th cup. The salary cap is going to keep going up each year and Marchand clearly still has at least 2-3 strong years left in his tank…while grooming our younger players like 23-year old Lundell & 26-year old Luostarinen (you know…HIS LINE MATES…who've been spectacular since he arrived) to keep improving! Name ONE TEAM that wouldn't happily trade places with the Panthers right now…
Well it is clear Marchand was asking 9 million AAV for shorter deal.
This deal is not supposed to age well. Well I guess it ages great if Cats get another cup in next two years. Ages like Demi Moore if they get 2 cups in next 3.
But if cap balancing caused by this has price of like… Lundell, it is disaster. Unless you bring home those cups of course.
All you have to do is buy the contract out when he retires, what you talking about.
It’s not a Dumb Contract… Marchand will play 1-2 more years and get bought out… It’s Florida’s way of showing Respect to Marchand… and still getting it done under the Cap…
