Former New Jersey Devils forward Michael McLeod was found not guilty on the charges he was facing in a Canada courtroom today.
This is being discussed at length today, and I figured I would come on here and discuss it.

Ace, I know this is way off topic but my wife and I have our 10-year anniversary this year. She's surprising me to a devil's home game. Something I had never had the opportunity to go and do. We're going to be there in December for the Dallas game. And then we're probably going to go to Niagara falls or whatever. But the most important thing is the game. LOL. Hope to meet you man

Sorry I missed the live stream! But in opinion, McLeod and the other players should be allowed to play. They were found not guilty, aka innocent, in a court of law.
100% bring him back, he is a good 3rd / 4th line center who was the best we had at the face off.
Ok I just have to say because its pissing me off. But people tweeting "Believe Women" rn, to me sounds just like when people were saying "white lives matter" during the the George Floyd incident. Yes, Believe women, BUT some women are liars and ruin men's lives…& Yes white lives matter, but black lives matter too & especially rn in connection to the issue at hand

Any extreme view on either side can be toxic. You spoke about this well and I’m sure it was not easy to – I would have had a panic. You did well covering both sides and speaking to both.
It's dumb that this case was reopened. In hindsight virtually nobody would have an opinion on what was now a waste of time and completely damaging event to the 5 men named and the 1 unnamed female that also had to deal with this crap being reopened. I think all 5 men should go back to work as much as I think the unnamed female should be allowed to go back to her job that she didn't publicly lose. I would LOVE to have Mikey back in the lineup.
To add on to my previous statement, if Fitz is smart he will bring back McLeod. Fuck the backlash, the man is innocent and deserves to be reinstated. With the devils
This is a very tough one for the NHL. While they are not guilty of sexual assault, and the acts were found to be consensual by the court, the specific acts were things most would consider pretty vile in a moral sense. Just because they were not found guilty of the charges, doesn’t mean that the morality of the acts were something the NHL wants to support. They are a private business and I get not wanting that cloud over their heads.

This turned out bad for everyone involved.
Michael McLeod and Carter Hart and all the players from the Hockey Canada 2018 scandal have had their lives and careers destroyed because of lies and because of a liar. I will be shocked if any NHL team signs any of those players. PR clusterf**k nightmare.
Mcleod had consensual sex with the woman, the SA was based on the group act. Once the Judge found that the woman was the instigator for group sex Mcleod was cleared of any wrong doing. So not sure why people are saying he assulated her when she even stated sex was consensual with him.
I'd just like to say that I'd love if we could have a player like McLeod from 2022-23 in this line-up. I just see issues with it.
-First, the Devils couldn't afford more salary if they wanted to unless Fitz miraculously gets rid of Palat. Not impossible, but difficult as it still hasn't happened yet. I believe McLeod asked for a leave of absence which allowed him to go to court, but allowed NJ to still hold his contract. Not 100% sure. Either way, still a cap concern.
-Second, even if Palat does get traded, it's a question of whether McLeod has even been practicing, or is anywhere near the same player he was, which I doubt as time away does not improve one's play. He has lost a bunch of playing time.
-Third is whether or not the higher-ups would even want him on the team, or the image he'll still be carrying, acquitted or not, as it could be a distraction.
-Lastly is my worry that the NHL still has a right to investigate, and ultimately still suspend McLeod and the others for inappropriate behavior whether they were acquitted or not.
McLeod was a very good 4C in his time here, and a borderline decent replacement 3C, but the headaches of his image, which unfortunately are still there, and trying to fit in a little extra salary are not worth it IMO. At best if the league doesn't suspend these players, I think NJ brings him back on a PTO to feel out the backlash. But I agree with Ace, it's a stretch for him to come back.
