  1. As a Redwings fan, I always had high hopes for Joe. I honestly hope he changes his future in Montreal. Best of luck to you Joe.

  2. Unfortunetly joes hockey iq is lower then his goal totals…seems like a nice guy, just dense

  3. He has flashes in the pan of moves that make you think he could be amazing, but they’re too few and far between

  4. The assessment I remember was that he was a high-floor/low-ceiling player. He was definitely going to make the NHL, but that he didn't project to be anything of note. Just a guy that plays.

  5. Veleno showed skill but was so inconsistent. A lot of nights he was just out there for cardio. He is saying all the right things about playing with passion, but I really don't think he knows what it means to do that every shift. For his sake I hope he figures it out.

  6. Veleno didnt get exeptionnal exeption because he was that good it was because he was good enough so his parents ask for the exeption since he was born 2 weeks too late to be eligible in the CHL that year.

  7. Veleno needs to dial up the grit and the compete. It is the only way he will make it in the NHL.

  8. I always saw his potential as “Dylan Larkin Light” because of his speed, some skill, and 200 foot game. However, he may have been another prospect that Blashill ruined by asking him to focus too much on his defensive game instead of letting him continue to grow his offensive skills (which I also believe was the issue with Zadina and Rasmussen)

  9. Veleno didn't play between Larkin and Raymond. Larkin always centered. Don't just read charts.

  10. I think most Detroit fans had high hopes for him and rooted for him. He just didn't ever come out and play at an elite level. I confess I was ready to trade him a full year prior to the actual trade.

  11. As a Wing fan who’s (sadly) watched every televised game since the 2012 home win streak, I can tell Montreal fans “enjoy your new 4th line center who doesn’t want to play hockey anymore”…
