EVERYONE FORGOT About Patrik Laine
I created this video to show that Patrik Laine was once seen as the next elite sniper in the NHL… so why has the hockey world stopped talking about him? In this video, we dive deep into why Laine is still one of the most dangerous and underappreciated goal scorers in the league. From his deadly power play shot to his insane natural scoring instincts, Laine still has the tools to light up the NHL — and every team wishes they had a player like him. Don’t sleep on this sniper… because he’s ready to have another big season.

  1. Yup bro.
People don't get that most of us are NEVER at our "best" in every way about anything; especially when it would be needed the most, but people still manage to "contribute" right? In life.
(well, until your mind and/or body can't; harsh realization that so many mid 30 to late 40s guys have to deal with often in silence (so people who were kids/teens when "that" happened in 2001 and remember it well; and what followed and partly brought us to where we are today)

So BTW, we would be called what in terms of "generation" nowadays, "90s kids" still? And/or "fossils"? lol.
(smarter than myself college/uni students of mine called me a "boomer", in a super funny moment, and I just said "nah, "Boomers" are still rolling in it man, lot of moisture in that filth; even if born in 1946, but us, born in the mid to late 80s, no lol? Unless there is no major bad luck and nepotism to a certain degree, or the exceptions [chosen ones lol], the rest of us got emptied out YEARS ago lol, and dry empty stuff do fossilize well haha :P.
"Extra" points if your body sucks, and/if you ALMOST but came JUST short of finally repaying ALL of your student related debts (plural) after 10-20 years, but you obviously crumbled just a year too early….).

Anyway NONE of that matters because you don't play into that team with that leadership without being proud to play on A line, 1st? 4th? Less ice time? No matter, if it's the best way to help the team win, no matter the contract and player name, they must be happy to play with anyone. If the team and player (that really are more treated as "partners" in that "project" of, well, winning a cup during the current mandate in 3+ years, be a top 2 conf team, AND be on that level for as long as it is (as Habs' Gorton and Hughes think it can) sustainable in the current and future NHL.
If Laine can contribute and it's benefiting the team, and that the person (player) is still convicted that he and his family will have the best chance at happiness/etc. in MTL as a Habs member, unless an "appropriate" contract can't be negotiated for some reason, Laine won't go anywhere anytime soon.

If Marty is happy with him and vice-versa, he'll be resigned when it's possible/appropriated to do so.
My only question, since I think he has a spot for this team's present and future, is for how many years he'd sign. It's WAY more telling than the yearly amount imho.
BTW, when is LAine's current contract ending? Ppl sometimes talk of him as if he had my type of age like Marchy, but the man is YOUNG guys! 35 y/o + players are dealt differently in many levels. Laine isn't even 29 yet or something lol?
If is contribution is important for the team's long-term success, they will sign him for 4-7 years at some point I'm sure.
How will it affect the cap? Well, it depends on the lv and type of "contribution" we're talking about here.

My opinion : the closer we get to the end of his CBJ (always seem like a code word for… BJs…. lol) contract, the more desperate teams will try to offer him insane cash for a 1-2 year deal when UFA, OR, way less cash here.

BUT the Habs have other stuff to offer than only cash, like long-term stability + commitments (Hugues is a lifelong NHL player agent, he's knows the value of "intangibles" for instance, and unwritten/tacit extra contractual agreements; can be anything depending on the player in question and his particular situation like with family – so schools and stuff are a given – or a good environment for a reason or another – and/or the Habs ARE part of his family, know what I mean?).

Laine and Dach will surprise people in more ways than one, I'm sure of it.

  2. Let's hope for Laine that he'll be able to play at his best level and that nothing wrong will happen to him all along this coming season. He seems "hungry" and that is a sure good sign.

  3. Nonsense. Laine gets tonnes of credit as a power play threat. It’s everywhere else that he fell short last season
