Good trade for the habs. Not a great draft so dont mind losing mid round picks. Will not be as interesting watching the draft with the habs not picking tonight

As a Hab fan, I’m really happy with this trade. It’s remarquable that they didn’t have to sacrifice Reinbacher. Imagine a top 5 of Hutson, Dobson, Guhle, Reinbacher and Carrier going forward. I imagine they will eventually trade Mattheson whom we like a lot here in Montreal but I’m sure they don’t want to have three offensive defencemen. Now hopefully we can sign Giroux as a free-agent 2C for a couple of years until Michael Hage settles in.
Huge draft for the isles tonight
As an Isle fan not happy should have got a high-end prospect instead of Hineman. Hopefully the picks get us Hagens now.
Im thinking a defenseman from MTL might be going somewhere soon. Im no expert, but it does seem like overpay to me. Maybe that defenceman could be sent with another asset for a mid 10 to 20 pick. Here's hoping.

Select the best two picks in the first round according to their needs, stock up on draft prospects, WAIT until next season when we are hopefully going to rise to be a contender in this rebuild plan and sign some good elite free agents in 2026 (a good year to sign FA players).
Dobson is a clone of Matheson, what a bad trade Hughes made. Stats show Dobson had 108 giveaways and 38 takeaways last season, only 56 hits while Matheson had 107 giveaways, 43 takeaways and 60 hits.
Dobson will not sign long term in Montreal.
If he does sign a huge fat contract, it is ludicrous paying this guy upwards of 10mil + a year after trading our 2 first round picks and Heinemann to obtain him.
Hutson and Demidov are waiting for big fat contracts as well. Destruction I say.
Mailloux or reinbacher value are way higher than heinemen. 2 first round was the price. Im sure they took heinemen for contract purpose. Still a good player ill miss him.

This is a great move for NYI. Why pay 11 million when somebody like Ryan Pulock is better in all another areas and can still provide number 1 PP minutes if you go into next season to start, but then build out the rest of the team with the leftover cap

Dobson is definitely not worth the money. Good offensive but turns over the puck alot and has no toughness at all. Upside can be good but that’s only if he is willing to change his game or tweak it I should say

Hutson defensive skills are so underrated
Solid move for isles. Not worth the money, he’s puts up a lot of points but he is also the 90% of the reason isles had so many blown leads in the third period these last two years. NOW GO GET HAGENS!!!
Heineman is a very good 3 rd or 4 th liner and will work extremely well with Gatcomb! 16 n 17 ! Islanders lost leverage as Dobson only wanted one destination! He had squashed a deal Kyrou straight up would not Sign for Blues! Barzal rumors are swirling again! Hawks! Utah! Canucks! Poking tires on Barzal! Hawks rumors number 3, 25 , and a defender. Utah 4 and ? Canucks a bigger deal landing Barzal n ? For EP and number 15
even if Haggens is still around at seven, i think it would be hard for the bruins to move the pick. unless for a very high prospect and a number one pick and potentially a salary dump of a player like Korpisalo. i personally do not thing Haggens goes beyond Nashville at five.

I beg to differ. Hutson's defensive game grew strongly this year. You can't say it's a liability. Nor does it make sense to put out two offensive defensemen as a line.
Dobs will be one of the top three in Mtl so he will play in less taxing situations more often with a lot less on his shoulders. Makes a huge diff

Montreal just balanced teh left and right side of the defense. Of course players like Matheson and maybe even wifi will be going, even Struble. They will keep Carrier and Ghule for now since Carrier is a best defensive D-man on the team
