Avalanche trade Charlie Coyle, Miles Wood to Blue Jackets for Brindley, picks, free up cap #goavsgo

draft day is here and there’s ABS news big ABS news they have traded away Charlie Coyle in his one-year remaining on a $5.25 million contract as an average annual value they also move on from Miles Wood in that bad contract as both players have been sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a 2027 second round pick and a future third round pick as well as center/wing Gavin Brinley um this is a second round pick from a couple of years ago out of the University of Michigan in the Adam Fantelli draft he was part of that kid line with Fent Tilly and McGarity at Michigan um he’s small he’s young but he is remarkably skilled and fast i think this is a really good prospect to help deepen the ABS prospect pool but the big thing that Chris McFarland and Joe Sack do here is they move on from a bunch of cap space that they needed to open up nearly $9 million the ABS have to play with as we go into the July 1st date for free agency they still have to find a way to get Ryan Lindren back in the fold and maybe Tinker with a little bit of that middle four defenseman for the ABS this year now third center might be open but remember this the ABS still have Ross Colton who was signed to fill a role just like that for this team moving in so they still have enviable center depth of McKinnon Brock Nelson Ross Colton and Jack Drury i think this is a great trade however still have to wait to see what the return is in total will the ABS keep the second round pick will they keep the third the likely answer is no that they’ll utilize those as trade chips the big question is how do you weaponize the $8.95 million of salary cap that you just opened up i think this is a home run you had to move cap you had to get more breathable but you are nowhere near done Chris McFarland um this is an A for me you had to move on from those contracts i love it and Brinley has high upside even though he’s a smaller player you guys are going to love watching him [Music]

  1. Not a fan of bringing back Lindgren. He will want to much money. If you pay that much, I would rather have Miller from NYR. The big Defenseman. I think we should still move Sammy G. To free up more $$ and get bigger on backend
