  1. The talent is there, yet he seems to play so far back in the net, however, when he's good he's awesome. They can't move that contract so hopefully Muse will have a defensive system that plays to the strength of Graves and the other defensemen which you'd think in turn would help Jarry be better.

  2. He's not "on" enough for it to matter. The mental aspect is where he needs to be solved. He needs to worry less about the other net and see the talented players that are scoring on him.

  3. There are too many times where he’s shaky at best and it seems that his faults are all mental, which I don’t know how you definitively change that. Especially with all of the young goalies behind him, just give those guys a chance and get Jarry to the oilers. Perfect replacement for Skinner.

  4. Not that I’m a big fan of Jarry’s
But, He has been playing behind a horrible defensive team for years

  5. I totally agree with your observation. When Jarry was fighting to be #1, he was lights out. Then when he won it, he could not keep it in high gear. It was more than just the competition figuring him out.

  6. Hopefully Muse system won't allow a league leading 2 on 1 break aways. Gotta protect the goalie just like you protect the QB

  7. Jarry will have to take a deeper dive. It is very exhausting to block shot after shot's. Bottom line it will be up to him to keep on stopping the other teams from scoring. The defense will have to do better. Thank you DK Great show

  8. I was at the game vs Boston a few years ago, the “how about that f**** save” game. I believe in Jarry because I’ve seen that potential with my own eyes

  9. Jarry has had multiple chances in the past 3 years and before. Because of his contract he is going to be the #1. But as has happened before if he loses confidence or he's not in all the games mentally. They need to give Murashov, or Blomqvist, or Silovs the opportunity and send Jarry back to wilkes-barre. And figure out later what they can do with Jarry

  10. you nailed it!!! We are so proud of the man he has become and husband and father he is. He loves Pittsburg and the fans, support him all the time and he will do the same.

  11. If you can have the opposing team start the game with their second shot, he would do a lot better. Just have them waive their first shot.

  12. DK – Let's assume for a moment that under Muse's new system, Graves has a bounce-back year and performs well, thereby making him moveable. Let's also assume Karlsson, if he's still here, truly thrives under Muse. If you're Dubas, do you actually reverse course on moving Karlsson and not capitalize on Graves' improved play?

  13. Thanks DK. I know too many fans that put all losses on the goalies and give them zero credit on wins. Give up countless breakaways or odd-man rushes a game, play poor positioning in your own end, and lose every defensive puck battle and you would make even a superstar goalie look bad.

  14. There have been many that have the talent but don't reach their heights…or they may…late in their career….at this time I'm not sure Jarry has earned to be someone to have in the net if you want to win, not just regular season, but playoffs. When over your whole career your save percentage goes from about .920 before January, .890 after January and playoffs…and in your example of playing against other great goalies, in the playoffs, .880…stats can be used many kinds of pictures….but when I just look at the overall trend over his WHOLE career….he's not someone I'm betting on…forget about a game….how about multiple games that are needed to win in the regular season, in the playoffs and more importantly the playoffs……I'm not holding my breath…..the defensemen in front of him haven't been great…but the shots he lets in aren't great…it doesn't matter how the defensemen in front of him are.

  15. I'm okay with giving Jarry the benefit of the doubt. As the team's defensive play has worsened, Jarry's stats have declined, but his save percentage is always better than the team's meaning he's always been their best goaltender. I've been saying, for the last few seasons, that if they'd get rid of Sully and get a new defensive system in place…and played defense, Jarry'd be right back up at the top of the league. As bad as "fans" say he was in 2023-24, he led the league with 6 shutouts.

    2019-20 won starting job prior to Covid TEAM – 29th most SA (2051), 15th SV% (.904)
    Sv% .921 (9th in the league, 6th for goalies with over 30 starts) GAA 2.43 (9th in league, 5th w/ over 30 starts)

Hockey reference website wouldn't sort the SV% and GAA columns, so I couldn't find his league ranking for 2024-25.

  16. Dk good podcast on Penguins as usual thank you for using Charlie Brown ,Lucy I'm also Charlie Brown when it comes to Jarry I keeping thinking light switch will come in and Lucy won't pull football out

  17. Maybe Jarry will rebound with a better defensive system in front of him. He’s had several chances in the postseason, specifically against the Islanders and Rangers, and he blew it. I just don’t feel he can handle the pressure situations well.

  18. Even if the defense is fixed and Graves does the right thing and retire… we still know that he collapses and cant make a glove save when the playoffs come around. We also dont really know if that will be fixed because of the tiny sample size. He's too emotional, but in the sad way, not the intense way. Best case scenario : he starts hot to start the season , another team has an injury or r4pe accusation and he becomes tradeable, even if its for a depth piece and a 4th rounder. This team is not going deep if they make the playoffs. I feel worse for crosby than mcdavid. Its time to "definitely not tank wink wink". Let blom , silovs and mura face the real pressure to test them. Of course as soon as hes traded , he'll end up being in the allstar game annually and learn to use his glove and learn positioning
