Dude, you have a hockey channel with 50+k subscribers and you can’t be bothered to pay the $1.50 a month for the Athletic when you use their content for views?
Total contract divided by 5 is the compensation calculation.
Not the AAV
Example :
7m x 7 years = 47m total divided by 5 = 9.8m
Compensation would apply to 9.8m bracket
Hage is a few years away! Suzuki and Caufield won’t get any younger! Mctavish is ready and a proven 2C who could jump right into that role now, which we need! And he’s got grit, and is physical so I’d even trade Hage in a package to acquire him!

If The Ducks do not want to pay McTavish that much money. Maybe they should talk to Buffalo about a Byram to McTavish trade. Byram is a #2 defensemen. He wants to be a #1 but a lot of people don't think he has that in him or at least at 24. Maybe he could turn into that but I do not see at this time.
McTavish could be a #1 center however he really is a very good #2 lets be honest here. Both him and Byram are close in age. Neither team wants to trade either player for picks and prospects.
Maybe a 1 for 1 trade would be good. Also Byram would be the Ducks best Defensemen hands down when that trade is done.
Nobody in their right mind should be willing to give up their 2026 first round pick for this player or almost any player in the NHL.
Yzerman wouldn't offersheet a player on his buddy Pat Verbeek. Not going to happen
