guy is 35. Why would Montreal take on a contract that still has 4 years and a high cap hit?
$7M for 4 more years…ya Montreal is not interested in that I can assure you. If we did trade for him the Flames would need to pick up some of that salary, like $2-3m per year. If Montreal could get him for $4m cap hit that would be worth diving into, but Montreal would have to have, IMO, exhausted all possibilities for a Crosby trade.

Hughes seems to be smart enough and patient enough to not jump the gun on Kadri. Even with a strong 2C the Habs aren't quite contenders yet. They need another season to develop and make the playoffs again before he start that conversation.
Does everyone forget that Calgary had a better record than Montreal last season??? They also beat New Jersey. Why does the media keep going on about this like Calgary was a bottom-team that’s tanking?
They have a terrible season next year and then maybe there could be some discussions by the trade deadline. But going off this last season? Why in the world would they give up their top line center and top scorer??????? They need offensive depth, how would giving that away help them in that area for next season???? I keep saying this: the Flames don’t only exist for teams to pick people off of. Especially a team that finished lower than they did last season (Montreal would have missed by a mile if they were in the western conference).
Montreal has the money to sign McDavid next summer. Im not saying that's going to happen but they are, on paper, one of the best suitor/destination if not the best for McDavid if he wants to win long term. Id also love to go for Crosby over the next year with our vast arsenal of futures.
Kadri would block both those potentials and wouldnt be that great of a solution unless Calgary eats some salary.

The problem with Kadri in Montréal is #1 what is the asking price in return a (1rst overall top 10 protected) The 7 M$ /yr Kadri Contract and who is going to replace Kadri on the Flames roster ? Also The Cap situation in Montréal (2025-2026)

Kahdri had 75 points two years ago, 67 last year, 35 goals. He plays physical, puts up really good numbers and at 7 million it’s not a badly priced contract, and I think it would be great for demidov .
