John Tavares will be hailed as a hometown hero, and Mitch Marner will be hailed as somebody who asked for (and got) the world, but delivered nothing when it counted.
Leafs were one goal away from being up 3 – 0 against the Panthers, and Nies wasn't 100% after that hit he tried, so the Leafs are right there, but for Marchand's, OT winner . Another power forward that can hit and take a hit is all that is needed .😊
I’m a Lightning fan but my hats off to Tavares signing this contract. A really good player taking a steep pay cut for his hometown team is the coolest thing I’ve seen in all of pro sports in a long while.

Now he deserves all the leafs fans love. That’s a true hometown guy. He could’ve easily got 7-8 million on the open market. Never see Marner do that.
I bet he will get a good deal within the leafs organization after his player career is over
