  1. Ducks, Sharks, Habs, Wild and Islanders all have a better prospect pools according to everyone but the Flyers who have shown us multiple times that they don`t know shit.

  2. Five other rebuilding teams will play for the Cup & the Flyers will still be trying to get past the 1st round off the playoffs.

  3. Well they will likely have a top five pick next season. They still have an incredible amount of holes. Then you have to wait for these players to develop, which is another pain point for this franchise

When DB was hire, I thought it’d take 3-5 years to get bs l to playoffs. This is year three. So it’ll be at best year five

  4. We need a top 5 pick this draft (hopefully get lucky and win the lottery) to get our 1C of the future. Use the 2027 Toronto 1st and a high-end asset to hopefully land a 1D if we can't find one in 2026 free agency.

  5. Nuance to Charlie's "nuance": There's no meaningful difference between "rebuilding for 20 years" and "having three 5-year rebuilds fail before the fourth one succeeds". Rebuilding success is statistical. You can make all of the correct choices and still fail. Most teams make mostly correct choices when those choices are viewed without the benefit of meaningless hindsight analysis.

Also "rebuilds work eventually" is a silly assertion. Every bad team will eventually make the playoffs consistently for an extended period if you wait long enough. Every team will win a cup eventually. These are statistical certainties, and are not necessarily related to "rebuilding". In order to actually judge a rebuild, you first need to show that a team is intentionally doing something different from "just trying to be better than last year" in a normal fashion. Very few teams, if any, ever actually try to be worse than they were the year before. Fans have an an extremely inflated and unrealistic view of teams "tanking for high picks".

  6. Keep not doing dumb things? Did you catch the draft??? A proper rebuild takes 6-8 years; the Flyers haven't started yet. You build down the middle — at least 3, preferably 4 top centres coming through the system. The Flyers went off the reservation with both Luchanko and Nesbitt; they have none, and left James Hagens on the board. You need 2 or 3 STUD defensemen in the system; the Flyers have none and left both Jackson Smith and Blake Fiddler on the board. A proper rebuild can never start when you're botching the draft at the top. Their last impactful UFA signing was, what — 12 years ago or more?? Excellent move firing Tortorella but not much being done right since then.

  7. Failing during the rebuild 2or 3 times is probably actually the point of the article. That’s just part of the rebuild process sometimes in my opinion

  8. They have been "Rebuilding" since 1976, after that Ed Snyder Et Al stole money and hockey in general from Flyers fans. I stopped following them 2 decades ago. Sixers aren't much better.

  9. We have accumulates two blue chip prospects in 3 years. Need one more before an end date can be considered. Could be one more year or four sadly.

  10. I think next off-season will determine everything for Briere. The money that he’ll have to spend and how he chooses to spend it to fill out the roster will be everything. Of course, there’s been the controversy of each of his drafts. What really happened with Gauthier and the trade return he got. Could they have done better than getting Drysdale in that trade? Then they pass on Buium in the next draft because they had Drysdale supposedly. Then this years draft with the Nesbitt pick and the criticism surrounding that and who fans think they should’ve chose. It wasn’t helped by with Briere saying they hope he becomes a 3C for them. Hoping for a 3C at 12th overall? These are/were all major decisions that will make or break a GM and the way he’s running a franchise. I don’t know if my glass is half full or half empty in regards to what he, Jones and the rest of organization have done so far.

  11. About 20 years ago, considering it started back with hextall and still think their 3 to 5 years from seriously contending

  12. It started with Clarke at the end of his GM role and continued with Holmgren then Hextall and of course Fletcher. They missed on so many good players in the draft since 2016 which is the reason for their lack of talent. Poor Coaching and terrible veteran signings is also part of the equation.

  13. We got screwed when Gauthier did not want to play here for Torts he also got a negative recommendation from Hayes on torts. He should have been fired before that draft. He was a bad coach for a young team.

  14. On the contrary, landing a larger version of Cale Makar would be the best option. His name? Keaton Verhoff of The Victoria Royals, soon to be playing for the University of North Dakota.

  15. It’s going to take another 10 years bc they keep doubling down on mediocre players for this “core”, they have an undersized defense, no #1 goalie and no centers better than bottom 6. And don’t tell me Zegras, he’ll be moved to wing bc he can’t win a faceoff and doesn’t play defense. Yet we keep praising Briere

  16. just looking to be actually proud of this team within my life time hopefully sooner than later

  17. The Kings drafted Kopitar and Quick in 2005 and Doughty in 2008. That’s your 1C, 1G, and 1D. They didn’t compete for the Cup until 2012.

It takes 7-8 years to build a Cup Contender, and that’s if you hit on the big draft picks like the Kings.

We are only in Year 3 of the Briere rebuild. We are still 3-4 years away from seriously competing. And again, that’s if Briere hits on these draft picks. It takes time. Patience. He is not going to build a Cup Contender with the Cap money next summer.

  18. We need a 1C, a goalie, and a 1RHD so we can move Sanheim back to the left side where he belongs. But the rest of the core is looking solid, and we have some exciting pieces in Michkov, Martone, Luchanko, Bump, etc. I think we’re about 2 seasons away from putting it together.

  19. This upcoming year should NOT have playoff bubble as a goal but more player development and ONE more top 7 lottery positioning (esp w/ the Mckenna ticket)… Then next summer depending on how they fare in FA will ultimately make them playoff contenders in 2026, 27 & 28 and potentially cup contenders in 2029 & beyond when their young core plus having found their #1 goalie & have had 2-3 years under their belt together…

  20. I fear we are rushing the rebuild and that we will become a Kings 'Fraud' team for a season or two and have to go again like Florida. Now we have gone through the pain for a few years let's not shortcut and waste this period of pain and if it takes a year or more of being bad to give us more certainty of a 10 year reign!

  21. what saw on tv Torts cared more than anybody else on the team last year. Guys got mad at him and quit playing. We almost made it 2 years ago guys!! Ice Hockey is a total different game in every Season or Years ya don’t know till ya find out. Briere has brains.

  22. The way the game is played now it’s total CUP goalie> goals> skill> management >finishing checks> blocking shots
