The Leafs were pretty genius to get ANYBODY. Marner was a day away from leaving in free agency…so getting anything back is pretty damned savvy.

They needed to move on from Marner but he wasn’t the problem. The whole mindset of the organization from top to bottom is rotten. They have needed a drastic rethinking of what it takes to win in the playoffs for many many years.
Without Marner, you’re one major injury away from possibly not even making the playoffs. Who the heck even knows what kind of mess we’re in if Mathew’s can’t shoot the puck like before with his albatross off a no move contract.
