Everyone is right, this is not a specialist… But you have nothing to lose with this signing. Just one more former 1st round pick on the roster, he is a left handed center after all. Even if he only plays 4th line minutes, what's to lose? I see zero risk in this signing.
Great for depth and taking faceooffs at the left circle . Cant wait when this guy makes an impact with an open ice hit in the bell center . Then he will be a fan favorite . Effort = reward . Reward comes with effort . This guy has a chance and iam wishing all the best .Go Joe !!! And GO HABS GO !!!😊
Sorry Drew, but Veleno is not a center. Look at his faceoff numbers….his career is 45%…. Dach's is 46% and Newhook's is 47%.. He'll be a depth player, and most likely play in Laval.
I stand corrected with Veleno as a faceoff specialist, and this is why I ALWAYS say the viewers on this channel know more than I do. Apologies! 🙃 Appreciate all your honest feedback, no offence taken! 😂🤦🏻♂️
1- Low risk forward. (cheap) 2- native born 3- Left center 4- 25 year old, 5- Got skills, never got a breakthrough ( wrong playmates?) 6- LOTS of players played with him, a bit like newhook.
The canadiens must have done their homework and seen something in his metrics.
46.5% is really bad for a center. I love your passion for the team I root for, but saying his number are pretty good is just factually wrong. I don't mind signing him at that price though, but we should be honest about who he is.
CROSBY CROSBY CROSBY!!! lol stats mean nothing when the season starts!! different team, different players, he's now playing in his home town! throw the stats out the window! Veleno is going to be perfect on this team!! great pick up! this Habs team is going to be awesome this season! especially if we get the name I chanted at the beginning of this comment! 😉
Nothing at all to get excited about here with Veleno. On two rebuilding teams he posted mediocre results. Obviously not the 2C Hughes was hoping to find but will add some depth down the middle. Let's see what he can do, but me thinks he is likely on a short leash. Good luck Joe!
Low risk, high potential kind of situation. Also makes the competition tighter at camp for Dach, Kapanen, Beck & Davidson (so underrated this kid) etc some of whom will also compete for the wing, and for the Vets as well. That's a very good thing : All spots on the team now have to be truly earned.
Its a no risk move. And some players blossom a bit later. Just remember we picked up Paul Byron of waivers and he came in and had something like 5x 20 goal seasons. If he doeant work out, we can send him to the AHL at no cao penalty.
He is a really good guy and has a good head on his shoulders Masterpiece scouting report lol regardless Let's see if he has heart and will go the extra mile for his childhood team Welcome 🙏 we are rooting for you
As many are saying, it’s a no risk signing. If he doesn’t work out, he goes to Laval. If he does make the team, I hope it’s not due to injuries or poor performance by other players. You mentioned he was a first round pick. If he makes the team, and Mathewson stays, the Habs will have 12 first round picks on the roster! If that is the case and Reinbacher is also on the team then they will have 13!
Thnx Kent and Jeff. I like the move too. Joe has good instincts with the puck on his stick, good passes nice shot. I like the deal no risk, give the home town guy a try, lets go habs! ❤
Drew….wanna bet that Joe goes to…….Winning the Faceoff School ……this summer to replace Dvorak During Montreal's last 1970's dynasty they had a face-off specialist named Doug Jarvis…..

This is a no risk move… Short term, low cost.

I wouldn't unpack his bags if I were him…. I think he's hitting the road

46% is not almost 50% when it comes to faceoffs.
Young center. May just work out.
Bleh, depth is fine but he isn't going to help much.
He is a really good guy and has a good head on his shoulders
Masterpiece scouting report lol regardless
Let's see if he has heart and will go the extra mile for his childhood team
Welcome 🙏 we are rooting for you
Depth. Painless signing. Maybe it is his time and place
Velano, Galley and Anderson…baboom
Things you say about shitty hockey players: He's a great guy, funny, good sense of humour, liked by his teammates, locker room king of guy etc…

Great, low risk, could work out great ,if not oh well.
Blais, Veleno, 1 year trial contracts. They believe in these players. It's to them to take that opportunity. I say why not!? 🤷
