We need to stop with the "florida just won with the same system" The Canes and the Panthers DO NOT play anything alike. Not all 'dump and chase' or "forecheck, pass, score" systems that look similar are the same. Florida dumps and forechecks in a punishing way, by game 5 in a series your ribs, shoulders and back is exhausted from being brutalized in the corners and in front of both nets by the panthers. The hurricanes dont do that, we dont have the personnel to do that.
There is too much smoke in the 'its the system' talk for us not to go looking for the fire. there is something to it, its not all legend and rumor.
what I'd like to know is how often a comparable trade happens and what were the results. How often has a premier, veteran winger been traded and helps his new, top-level team go on to the SCF and maybe even win the Cup? More generally, how many comparable trades have even taken place?
