Hello
wondering where the pod is, but this will hold me over for a bit
Disagree
Lowry has a bigger impact for his team than what he is getting credit for and ill take that if nesbitt turns into that.
She says McDavid doesn't want to come here. Umm, I'm sorry, she knows this how?? Or is this just lazy national narrative "Philly stinks so no one wants to go there" nonsense. I disagree strongly. In a year maybe Connor would want to come here. Hopefully the team will be better by then and goaltending is improved. I could see him wanting to come here for sure. And again with the Flyers are dinged for taking Nesbitt at 12. For the 20th time, he probably wouldn't be there. You can disagree with the Flyers analysis of Nesbitt, but if he's the guy the had to have and they sure seemed to love him, then you had to go get him.
I agree about Ekland. They take him at 12 and this draft is out of this world and the Flyers are the talk of the town. You move up for someone where you’re hoping their ceiling is second line center when you can potentially have two first line wingers? At first I saw what they were thinking that day. But the more I think about what they could’ve had while potentially going on a spending spree next off-season and getting that center they crave when you could’ve had Eklund in this draft is bad.
I disagree with a lot of Rachel's points.
We wont get any big free agents next year… we havent proven we are even close to the playoffs.
For 1 year the price of the Dvorak contract is inconsequential. Who cares? That's not a legitimate argument on a 1 year deal. Multiyear overpay? Okay i get it. All of these pundits get stuck in the past when the cap goes up, they are so slow to adapt, especially on 1 year deals.
This girl is too sure of herself…I saw her on other interviews and she was intolerably hyperbolic.
Again Bob McKenzie had him at 17
Correct me if I’m wrong but
Wasn’t Danny, Toc, & jones all NHL players & 2 out of 3 pretty dam good so why is this girl and people on your station acting as if they are even in the same room do they realize men who have played at high levels laugh at the shit they say
They moved up that high because another team was gonna take him in the teens people are stupid I’m sure there front office would of stayed at 22 interview people who have some inside knowledge not a girl who read a couple scouts opinions
I wonder how the analytic peeps will react after Nesbitt puts up a 90+ points year D+1 in junior.
Why do we not acknowledge that Dvorak got more to take less term. I rather have him 1 year-5.4 than 2 years -3.5 per.
C- draft. You can't spend two first round picks on a 4th line C prospect who's ranked 28-35 on consensus boards, leave Fiddler on the board to take Amico and his busted kneecap and pretend it's an A- draft. The Flyers need centers — so they take another RW at #6 with the 2nd best prospect on the board. If only the Flyers had a C in the system who could get Martone the puck. Everyone says the Bruins got a steal in Hagens; Briere left the keys in the car. I like Martone, but he was the wrong pick. The Nesbitt and Amico picks were Cleveland Browns-caliber drafting.
There’s a reason this chick is employed by ESPN. Bad takes. Trust our scouts.
Rachel, Nesbitt wasn’t going to be there at 22. That’s very well known now. I trust the NHL scouts here. It wasn’t just the Flyers who rated this kid higher than media consensus.
You could fill a library with what this girl doesn't know. Fun fact: I will be using her as an example to my Journalism Media students as what not to do in front of a mic. If you intend to be a "hot take" op ed spaz at least now what the heck you are talking about. There is a reason the Canucks cut her so quickly.
Rachel Doerrie? Why? What makes her such an expert? She's cute but you could have done a lot better in terms of a guest host.
She's no expert at all. All these rookie opinion people second guess the pro scouts.
D draft D- free agency….
Everyone but the flyers would take Hagens over martone.. nesbitt at 12 😅😂😂😂😂😂.. 22 was too high… danny the dope..
Rachel is smart & fearless. That doesn't mean she's right all the time but I appreciate it.
Rachel is awesome. Love her analysis.
We won't know if it was right to trade up for Nesbitt or sit at 22 and 31 to take other prospects for a few years. By all accounts, Nesbitt at least possesses skill and defensive acumen, if he amounts to being store brand Coots, that's a positive. If he can improve the skating and that opens up the offensive profile, is that not a win?
How many highly touted Centers are taken in those cherished top 5 draft slots and don't live up to the draft projections? How many Centers are taken from pick 20 to close of 1st round that don't amount to anything? Same thing for picks 6-19, it's random with many different factors. In 2015, we watched the Bruins take Zboril, DeBrusk, and Shenshyn with 3 consecutive picks in the teens. The 3 picks immediately after that were Barzal, Connor, and Chabot with Boeser and TK going back to back a few picks later.
Drafting and developing prospects is all a crapshoot but one I'm happy to see play out when the philosophy/approach is sound. The Flyers have spent so much valuable draft capital over the years on big/lesser skilled guys who have a low ceiling (Ginning, Goulbourne, Hagg, etc.) simply because they fit the "Bullies" archetype.
Sacha Boumedienne for me he's the guy at 22 for me and at 31 Alexander Zahrovsky, for the second round picks very good
I just hope Juhlson take the place for a guy like Helge Grans
I’ve liked hearing what she’s had to say throughout the draft process, but hearing her act like Hagens is the obvious pick over Martone seems wrong. Martone looks like a better all around player to me, Hagens just happens to be a C instead of W. Also, i wasn’t big on the Nesbit pick but the flyers weren’t the only team that valued him that high obviously after Nashville basically said they were gonna take him.
How is zegras not better than hagens? How many nhl games has hagens played? For all you know he could be a bust injuries hurt zegras value he’s still better because he’s been in the league
As much as i enjoy Rachel, she's gotta be smarter than "They could've taken him at 22"
Rachel way better than Kelly.
I find it hilarious when flyers fans hear an outside perspective they lose their shit and try to justify everything we do wrong 🤣.comments are great
Nesbitt wasn't going to be there at 22. So, if they wanted a center they had to move up. Zonnon went at 22, but I've heard he won't play center in the NHL and there weren't any consensus centers taken from 22 to 31. I haven't heard anyone else who likes Horcoff more than Nesbitt.
ESPN opinions….meh
Just feels like the flyers are building the team into a dead end with seemingly avoidable mistakes. Hopefully it’s not the case
