With a weak pacific they have a chance making thr playoffs… VGK and EDM can fall… EDM due to locker room issues non stable goalie….and VGK because of loss of pietro. Marner does not replace that… I think it falls down to mactavish… I have WPG and STL missing and UTH and ANA clinching…

Man, this is tough. I want to see the Ducks improve and make the playoffs so bad, but I don’t know if there is enough here yet. I think Gudas shouldn’t be on the top line if he picks up where he left off last season. He was getting torched multiple games in a row to end the season.
One of our defensmen is probably going to be moved. I don’t see how neither of them can be moved with so much depth in Zelly/Minty/Solberg/Luneau all waiting.
And there is still the problem that no high profile player came to us again for the second year in a row. No splash. Feels like no one wants to come here who is high profile, so we basically have to rely on homegrown talent to develop and compete. We will see.

Good build on the front still needs top scorer and no top d there. Wild and la will crumble next season. Then Anaheim or Utah could get in. If they couldn't locate the d on the right, they'll be fringe playoffs team every year. The top end is much higher for the sharks if sj gets a top d next year with both Celebrini and Misa

In terms of being ass yes.
In terms of being a title contender: not yet.
But the Ducks will be contending for a playoff spot this season.
Player development on both sides of the puck need to continue, offence will get there too much talent in the system and team to not produce a good offence with coach Q there. The young defencemen need to take that next step and Trouba needs to become that 35+ point a season guy again. Cautiously optimistic if they can stay healthy 🤞🏻

Ducks best move was change on the bench. Q, Woodcroft, McGill and Brewer will make the difference. Last year LaCombe made the jump from 17 to 43 points. If the new coaching staff can get that kind of jump from Carlsson, Gauthier, McT, Mintyukov and Zellweger they will be a playoff team.
If the Ducks are looking to move McTavish, maybe a trade for Dougie Hamilton could work. Devils could use another top 6 player and Dougie doesn't fit Keefe's system and causing a log jam on Defense. Anaheim would get a R shot Dman who can add points from the blue line and can still play solid D. Also Dougie would probably fair better under coach Q's D system. I think it's a win win.

Yeah, they could make the playoffs but I think another year of building is in order.
For them to make it, either one of them kids on offense and defense develops to a level that makes Killorn a 3rd/4th liner and Gudas a 2nd or ideally a 3rd pairing d-man or they shop for those needs.
To me they are one top-6 winger and one top-4 righty D-man away from contention.
Both of those things might cost more than the Ducks are willing to pay at this time, not really worth it for a 1st round exit and when next years UFA class is so good plus the kids need some minutes to develop.
I think hiring Jay Woodcroft as an assistant coach is an underrated improvement. The PP should improve greatly, and scoring in general should be up. I’m really looking forward to a new system and new coaching to help in that area where Anaheim has suffered the last two seasons. I’ll miss Zegras and Gibson, but I understand that you build a roster and they weren’t fitting anymore where they wanted to play. It’s finally time to get back to California being a competitive state, not 1 solid team and two bottom-dwellers
Whats with this the team is young and developing? Most of the players are from trades and cast aways that have been in the NHL for years. This isn't a young team anymore. Its a mediocre team with various cast offs from other NHL teams. Their young star left is Terry. Dostal is what a few years in now? Joe Quiennville got the Panthers a presidents trophy after decades of not very much. Maybe he can take another bunch of random dudes to at least a 7th or 8th seed. Still don't see enough on this team to say they are going to be good enough to crack the top 8.

SJ. WAY BEHIND ANIHEIM.

I SEE A LIKELY SENARIO WHERE DUCKS FINISH WITH LESS POINTS THAN 5 CENTRAL TEAMS BUT STILL MAKE PLAYOFFS BECAUSE THEY ARE THIRD IN THE PACIFIC AND BETTER THAN ANY PACIFIC TEAM NOT NAMED VEGAS OR EDMONTON.
Assuming Ducks coaching staff can boost the young guys and Kreider and Granlund stay healthy, their depth of talent coaching and goaltending is better than any team not named Vegas or Edmonton.
I see the Ducks between 85 points (floor) and 95 points(Ceiling).
The Ducks are in the same hell as Detroit and Buffalo, no matter who they get, they fall off.
Let's hope nobody else ends up like Trevor Zegras.
The ducks should be good this year. I’d bet they make playoffs but I don’t think they’ll go far if they make it. I do think they’ll be a contender in maybe 3 years though.

With Qunnville as the coach I think a wild card spot is a reasonable expectation to have, I won't fall apart or anything if it does'nt happen but I'm confident about this. He is very good at analyzing his players and figuring out where to put them to get the most success and he's not afraid to take a chance on the young talent or to adapt when a team is struggling a bit. I think the ducks are in a position to suprise alot of people at least.

Rebuild isn’t over-over until you make the playoffs or at least are 1-2 games out of a spot. The tear down/tank era is done but there are certainly spots that feel shallow or vacant. The young guys need to take huge steps in order to draw in quality FA’s and then hit on your 10-16th overall picks during the rise
No, I personally think the are ahead of them. But the ducks could have franchise defenders that tip the scale.
Thinking about the future, this team is the one that scares me. So much young talent at all positions and multiple players who appear poised to become stars.

I think the Ducks will make the playoffs this year. But the rebuild will take another year or two. Then the Ducks should be a contender.
Most overrated pick to pop out of rebuold. Nothing at blueline. Terrible GM who does not realize it. Lucky Doistal popped to ability, only thing that makes them halfway interesting next season. Verbeek outdoes Yzerman for weakest rebuild (No bad owner excuse that Adams in Buffalo legitimately has). Even money their rival Sharks get back into the playoffs before they do. The California valley laid back chill is the only thing standing in the way of hardcore criticism of Verbeek who makes bad move after bad move.
Longest rebuild ever with Murray being fired then going in a complete different direction with verbeek. Happy to see a legit coaching staff finally. Verbeek talked big but can’t get what’s not available. Let’s see if they can pull off that Robertson trade with Dallas. I’m predicting playoffs with a 1st round exit and our 5 year window begins.
