Doesn’t matter what happens if the oilers can’t win this year I don’t see McDavid resigning long term cause the blue line is mid and goalies suck.
The Penguins would need to retain 50%, the Oilers would need to find a trade for Skinner, and the question there is, what do you give the Penguins in the deal? I think Jarry would be an upgrade on Skinner or Pickard. The Oilers need to do something if they can.

Oilers should have traded with the Pens for Nedeljkovic at the trade deadline or right when the season ended. But who knows, maybe they will get him from the sharks come March this year. This current goalie tandem will not win a cup. Ned is far superior in all categories to both Oilers tenders.
Silovs would have been the better bet. Pickard, as a backup, at his cap hit, is not the problem. The problem is that Skinner is still playing like a young, inconsistent backup goalie.
