  1. Pens aren’t getting top prospects or very good young NHL players back for Rust/Rackell. They may not even get a 2026 first considering how GMs love that draft. They are declining assets, and one injury away or bad season from the Pens getting nothing back in return. Dubas would be stupid to hold on to them hoping for some mythical return he won’t get. A 2027 first and a pretty good prospect back are about fair value for them; holding on to 32/33 years old players will be a mistake

  2. So this move, does it mean Jarry is leaving or are the Pens not feeling Blom is ready? If no other move happens this trade makes no sense, just clogs up the younger AHL goalies.

  3. I appreciate Hunter calling out Adam. I love Steve and Jesse but listening to SDPN as a Penguins fan feels impossible this year. Also, as a history teacher, I need Adam to fact check both his hockey and history commentary. 😊

  4. W trade for Dubas. Goalies are tricky. Now the Pens have 3 that fit the timeline. They need one starter and one backup out of that. Should be doable.

  5. In my personal opinion, this trade probably puts Joel Blomqvist on the trade block. Fair or unfair, I get the impression that Blomqvist didn't impress nearly enough last year enough to keep Murashov in the ECHL for even another game or even supercede Filip Larsson regularly. The organization clearly has a bit of a logjam in net with good young guys coming up and some of that, including perhaps Tokarski as well, could be trade bait for upgrades that are more pressing, like big, solid and reliable defensemen.

  6. Silvos and Murshov for the future goaltending tandem! haha lets hope at least. Great trade again by Dubas.

  7. I think we're all ignoring the real possibility that Jarry regains his All-Star form this season, simply to singlehandedly carry the Penguins to a first round playoff loss (taking us completely out of the McKenna loittery)

…and getting into a GOALIE FIGHT with Shesterkin on opening night and injuring him for season – causing the Rangers go on to finish last in the league and win the McKenna sweepstakes lottery with what could have been our 2026 first round pick (if they deferred it to us).

We were on track for a top 4 pick last season and Jarry came back from the minors and said "nah". Brace yourselves, people.

  8. I loved the trade for Silovs. The Penguins get another good young goaltender who I think has a lot of potential upside and given what the Penguins have had in the past few seasons I think there’s a very good chance he could get a lot of starts this year. Absolutely a win for Kyle Dubas.

  9. I’m also not surprised that they are opening the season against the New York Rangers just given the fact that it’s a pretty good storyline of the Penguins going against their decade long coach in Mike Sullivan.

I’m more interested when the Rangers come to Pittsburgh for the first time this year because like you said Hunter Mike Sullivan is and rightfully so should get a standing ovation from the fans when he returns to Pittsburgh this year .

  10. Call me crazy this remind me of Cody glass like what happend slivos play good like dubas could even flip get maybe 2 second round pick for him since he’s under mill young goalie with upside and team need good goalies like don’t sleep on that take

  11. I'm curious why people are apparently now so down on Blomqvist after he had a bad stretch playing behind a really, really bad defense last season .. conveniently forgetting that he is only 23. But then we just by-pass how bad Silovs has been at times in his NHL career backstopping a much better defensive team, yet he gets a pass because he's only 24, so he has plenty of time to fix all those bad goals he gives up. I mean Silovs had an .861 sv% with the Canucks last season … how's he going to do backstopping a team with Karlsson, Letang and Graves on it?

  12. Got to see Silovs play in Charlotte during the Calder Cup Finals. He was an absolute beast and the only reason Abbotsford was able to eliminate the Checkers to claim the cup!
