Can't we just say this move, on its own terms, is good? It's good value for a guy like BB in today's NHL. It gives you a chance to get good by next year and hold on to him if you are. If you are still looking to trade, it's an attractive contract for that. You don't have to approve of Sabres management as a whole to recognize this one thing was good.

Sounds like a bunch of whining more than a hot take. The deal makes sense for both sides. In 2 years younger defenseman in our system will be able to fill out D core.
I’m usually pretty down on the Sabres but I gotta say this is a pretty win-win for both side. If the Sabres are good, he’s on a team friendly deal for GMKA to add and maybe he would want to re-sign. If the Sabres are bad, then you can trade the guy at half retained if needed, and then give Florida a 3 million dollar top 4 dman and Byram another cup.
Why are you talking about the Jets in comparison to the Sabres? Nobody cares about the Jets.
