Frank Corrado: Should the Canucks make a risky trade to get the C they need?

TSN’s Frank Corrado also joins the show, discussing how big a risk he’d take in a Canucks centre trade. He also talks about the modern NHL roles, and what has and hasn’t change with centre ice men, and what makes a good centreman these days. Also, Frank has his thoughts on whether a winger can be converted to play centre.

  1. Just get 1-2 months into the season like they did in 23/24. Trade prices will go down and you can give Raty and Chytil a shot at filling that role. One is a former 20 goal scorer and the other has always developed into a PPG player at every level he plays at. Don't rush anything.

  2. I would just like to see a responsible two-way, play-driving center who makes his wingers more effective around him. This is where I see that Pius Suter's contributions last year, and JT Miller's past ability to drive the Canucks' play, were greatly taken for granted.

  3. Off the cuff, reacting to the title, I recall the outrage in Canuck Nation when Benning acquired JT. That trade worked out very favorably, but can the suits catch lightning in a bottle twice? Finding a player with even 75% of the character and abilities of JT would be a victory. Sadly though, timing is everything in life, and with the scarcity of reliable 2 Cs in the league, the increased cap and 3/4 of other franchises also hunting for the same piece, the likelihood of success seems doubtful, even for someone with the creativity and savvy of the veteran Rutherford's pedigree. Fingers crossed.

  4. Giving up those prospects would be so shortsighted. You guys are negative Van media. The show after that trade would be “they gave up the best prospects!”

  5. It would be the Canucks luck to trade away our first round pick next years and the wheels fall off on a gamble and the team that gets it gets first over all. I would not trade our first next year if my life counted on it. I think the wheels could fall off. I think this is the most fragile team in the NHL. So many ifs, but no matter what we trade for we still will not be contenders for the Cup. So I would not be that desperate just to make the playoffs. Do something crazy like give up the next several years for a rental also.. Trade the house for Crosby being that they keep getting Penguins hand me downs. Not sure if Alvin noticed that Pittsburg has sucked out the past several years. A better player on that team still does not mean he is good. Penguins are in rebuild mode.

  6. Holy geez is this interview sounding like a Canucks’ admin round table meeting. A bunch of hypothetical ideas and a truck load of Blah blah blah blah blah blah..

  7. I DONT CARE FOR THIS PATRIK ALVIN GUY THIS TEAM IS MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE WITH THIS PETY GUY HE HAD A CHANCE TO CHANGE AND HASNT IM GLAD THE CANUCKS HAVE SOOOOOO MUCH MONEY TO WASTE

  8. Stop spending prospects to get guys you overpay for 4 years. Development is the path that’s needed. You can’t keep spending 1st rd picks.

Jared Mccan is a great example on giving up a prospect for.m short term mid success

  9. Would have figured moving Demko would have been the best way to acquire that spot while also creating enough cap space to afford it.
