NHL Free Agency 2025: Washington Capitals showed significant interest in UFA forward Jack Roslovic who remains unsigned. After missing out on Nikolaj Ehlers, the Capitals are exploring additional forward options.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Washington Capitals “took a long look” at Jack Roslovic, who played with the Carolina Hurricanes last season. The 28-year-old forward recorded 39 points (22 goals, 17 assists) in 81 games during the 2024-25 season.
Roslovic, who can play both wing and center, could provide the Capitals with additional lineup flexibility, particularly regarding Connor McMichael’s position. The former Winnipeg Jets first-round pick had his best NHL season with Columbus in 2021-22, posting 45 points.
The Capitals currently have $4.125 million in cap space after signing Anthony Beauvillier to a two-year, $5.5 million contract. GM Chris Patrick has indicated the team might look to the trade market after missing out on Ehlers, who signed a six-year, $51 million deal with Carolina.
In this video, we break down Roslovic’s potential fit with Washington, analyze his playing style, and discuss what other options the Capitals might explore this offseason.
