Ryan Reaves is actually a good hockey player. You don't stay in the NHL for 912 games without having elite skills. He might not be the fastest or score a lot of goals, but he's competitive and still keeps up with much younger players. I can't imagine many NHL players wanting to take him on, even at 38. IMHO will upgrade the Marlies and Leafs can develop 24 young. Defence, left, 24, height?, weight? Does he have a point shot? We will see…

Complete win win! Sharks have added vet Dmen Orlov, Leddy and Klingberg and will bring up OHL DMan Dickensen, so they needed to unload their current D. Sharks get someone who will help keep the flies off Celebrini, Misa, Smith and Eklund. Leafs get another DMan. Good for both teams!
The leafs made a big mistake not playing Reeves against the Panthers last year to handle Sam Bennet Marchand and their tough defenceman where he could get under there skin and and hurt them in a fight to change the monentum on the leafs side espically in the 5th and 7th game aganst the Panthers and it sure was worth a try to see what co uld happen where the panthers carried the toughness to win the series.

Habs fan here. Now THAT is a move in the right direction. Reaves is a liability. Now, the Leafs added a little of what they are in dire need of: heart and grit.
Making the marlies competitive is good for developing the next wave of leafs too. I like it

Not a rob by the Leafs at all. The Sharks needed a good locker room character guy who can also protect their young players and Brad Treliving needed to move Reaves who backed Mitch Marner.
I'm a Sharks fan and not a fan of Reaves. He's a one trick pony that didn't use his ability last season with the Leafs. That being said, with a young core, having a goon protecting them makes sense. Literally got him to enforce. Also helped with cap. Despite my feelings about him, this was a win win.
