People with the “Wasn’t Skinner’s fault” really need a reality check. A goalie’s job is to support the defense in case they break down, even if it means a breakaway. Ever watch shootouts? Majority of goalies stop most of the shootout attempts, trying to score alone on a goalie isn’t as easy as it looks. Not Skinner, every time there is a breakaway, you can call a goal ahead of time before it even happens. He is also bad at controlling rebounds, tracking shots, five hole, slow to react, you name it, he’s flunk it. He deserves no support and time to ship him out.
Yeah and both of them suck. Pickard in game 5. 5 goals on 19 shots. Skinner next game was absolute trash and gave up one of the worst goals in cup finals history on that 3 nothing goal. Mcdaddy walks July 1st 2026
Game 4 skinner played fine he was pulled so wed wake the fuck up but the oilers in games 2-6 werent the oilers that dominated the west this playoffs we had no fight and thats not the goalies fault
Stuart Skinner deserves a fresh start in a new city. He's been through so much & seems like a decent enough guy. I can see him being the next Jeff Deslauriers.
Edmonton is a horrible organization run by stuck in the 80's all out offense leave the goalies out to dry mentalities. How many Goalies do they need to have in a row that do poorly here, then get traded and do well?
The most polarizing Oiler is McDavid. He was pretty much a no show in the finals and needs to consult with his “family and do what’s best for his family” he’s 28 years old, married one year and had no kids. I’m fairly sure not a single douche bag from the winning Panthers was thinking about their family while winning two cups in a row.
Comment from the future here. Pickard ended up starting Game 5 after Skinner’s disastrous outings in Game 3 (gave up 5 goals in a little over 2 periods) and Game 4 (gave up 3 goals in the first period). However, Pickard’s magic ran out as he gave up 4 goals in an eventual 5-2 Panthers win (final goal was an empty netter and thus isn’t charged to a goalie). Because of this, the Oilers went BACK to Skinner for Game 6, and he gave up 3 goals in an eventual 5-1 Panthers win (final two goals were empty netters) to eliminate the Oilers and give the Panthers their second straight Stanley Cup
Stuart Skinner will blossom bringing his game to another level, matching the likes of Spencer Knight. It's up to Edmonton to decide whether he attains thus new level with Edmonton or somewhere else.
If a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link, why don’t the oilers learn and get a more consistent goalie?! Sigh. Another year without a cup I guess
Why are you beating a dead horse..waste if energy and post..ur management is incompetent…no money for a decent goalie ..less now..Bowman just tied up 50+- on 4 players on the team and not one is a goalie….same ole same ole…..and the fans expect what????????????
Picard was locked in—calm, composed, and making the big saves when it mattered most. If he didn't get hurt forcing them to put Stu back in IO think he could of taken them all the way.
Maybe if they would’ve got a defensive defenseman instead of number 96 Woman and maybe an additional defensive defenseman they might’ve had a chance and Skinner might’ve had some chance to make some saves?? Stupid move by upper management to get more offensive defenseman!? We all know defense wins championships. That was on upper management, not stewart. Also, they brought in KlingBerg??
Anyone who thinks that Stewart Skinner is the reason why the Oilers lose is literally a clown. If you take a look at the games where Skinner has lost, the Oilers as a team have not showed up. I don’t care who’s in that you will not win a hockey game when you don’t score goals or back check or take defensive responsibility seriously. Then when the back against the wall, and the management needs to do something, they put in Skinner as a bit of a fire starter, but you could’ve put in Bambi net and the others would’ve played with some desperation. Wake up Oilers fans. Skinner is solid and he’s 26 years old. The real problem is the culture of the organization that somehow thinks they’re living in the glory days of the Oilers of the 80s where you don’t need much in the way of defense. Turns out the game has evolved and I don’t care who you put a net until that culture changes, nobody is going to be holding a cup in Edmonton unless they’re playing for the Panthers and they were born and raised in this province.Wake up.

insane having the offensive core we do and NO FUCKING GOALTENDING.

Edmonton are the kind of team that will bring Skinner back…..again 😂
It’s not his fault.
This is Stuart Skinner, former goalie for the Edmonton Oilers.
Is stu skinner supposed to score goals too that was main the problem 2-0 for two periods he did his job
Bro he got pulled at 7 minutes left and their coach also kinda put his team in a bad position by leaving them with an empty net
Game 4 skinner played fine he was pulled so wed wake the fuck up but the oilers in games 2-6 werent the oilers that dominated the west this playoffs we had no fight and thats not the goalies fault
Hey genius…. 17 shots in the first?
That's a defensive problem lol not a goalie problems
I hope they trade skinner and he flourishes elswhere cuz the soilers are just trash…..
How mcD leaves too. As much as i don't like home he deserves better
No he isn’t 🤦🏻
Polarizing has more to do with personality or behavior than play. Not the greatest word choice, kind of like SS play
Oilers will have at least one new goalie starting next season
Probably two
Im telling you TRADE SKINERR

3 goals in the FIRST PERIOD? Is not the goalies fault. The oilers are soft and deserved to lose and be mocked by the douche at Panthers
It wouldn't have mattered
Yo yo leave skinner alone. He’s not Bobrovsky… and our defense is always hanging him out to dry

Keep Pickard. He's as good as any backup in the league. Gotta change out Skinner. It's the easiest and simplest upgrade they can do.

Team defense is a much bigger problem than skinner. Nurse and Bouchard are pylons.
AND YET FLORIDA WON LETSSS GOOOO FLORIDAAAA
No, Carnee is the most polarizing
