  1. Controversial take: Every team should submit their draft list for the first 64 picks to the NHL then all the piked players are temporarily assigned to the team, then we get a 30 minute trade frenzy. Finally all the players selected by each team are called up together.

  2. Getting more than future considerations for Reaves is definitely a win. Thrun may not be a good defensemen or maybe he is decent on a bad team, with some bad goaltending. Benoit was thought very little of when he was signed and he seems a decent bottom guy.

  3. I really like the AHL level change. There are some players that gain nothing going back to dominate a kid’s league. There are some that definitely need to change their game and the best bet for that is the CHL.

  4. So my most hated player is now with my Sharks against a young defenseman ? There's no way GMMG could sell me this trade. Our penality teams units will see a ton of ice next season

  5. I think the changes with the AHL and NCAA is great for the players. But as a CHL fan I’m a bit worried about what will happen to the league

  6. Contrary to popular belief, Future Considerations is NOT a player
    .
    Here's what it actually means;
    "in the Future, I will Consider not taking a dump on your front lawn, but I still might..Especially if you are San Jose."

  7. If they did the interviews, they need to start the clock for the next team as the interview starts.. having said that, get rid of the interviews w/ the front office

  8. The Leafs getting anything with a pulse for Reaves is a win. Reaves is a disgusting individual who will cost the Sharks more in penalty minutes than anything else. Also, the draft was painful to watch. Looking back at the 2024 draft vs. the 2025 draft, I cannot believe that the GM's think this year's draft was a success.

  9. I’m guessing Reaves is a great locker room guy with how long he’s been around and the fact teams want him.

  10. Thurn most likely is a marlie or gets claimed so the leafs basically got rid of the reaves contract for free with an added bonus if thurn clears waivers

  11. The way things are going the CHL leagues will have to change what they do. With the NCAA paying players, AHL change, how can they ever compete with that? Need to get more sponsorship, more fans, and pay players three to four times more. They have to adapt, I really don't know what they should do.

  12. AHL moving down their age is 100% a move to try and help the CHL from having a mass exit of players to the NCAA

  13. Good to know the NHL doesn't want people to watch the Draft, I'll happily oblige them after whatever the heck that Draft show was supposed to be.

  14. Just pressure the teams into making their picks when they know who it is, not waiting until the countdown has been at 0 for 2 minutes to say the pick is in. "Nashville, you're on the clock, do you have your pick ready?"

  15. The AHL is a development league so going in at 19 is good for 'some' players, but maybe they should also limit the number of older players if they have a ton of games. The Laval Rocket have a few older players that really help the young guys learn to compete, but they got slaughtered by the Checkers in the playoffs who practically had an HNL roster. Still, we signed their goaltender in the offseason who was great and will help the rookie Fowler, so I guess change is good, there's no pressure to leave Junior. thx

  16. Grier just wanted to get rid of Thrun and Reaves was someone Toronto were willing to give that Grier saw as value to his team. They could have swapped prospects, but part of Grier's intention was to open up the lineup at LD. Thrun played 2 seasons and just wasn't good enough. He had no chance of playing for the Sharks this season after some FA signings and the likely debut of Dickinson, and Grier would probably rather give opportunities to Carlsson, Cagnoni and Furlong in the AHL. This trade was a win for all 4 parties.
