As a habs fan don’t be decieved by emil heineman’s numbers he is really good, but he literaly got hit by a car halfway through the season and didn’t play well, so i think you can expect first half of the season heinemann with the islanders

Hi Gil. You know how I feel about Dobson—-he’s a giveaway machine and 9.5 is just too much! I won’t miss one bit—adios. Not one game I saw he wasn’t coughing it up or not getting the biscuit out of the zone. He was easy to knock off the puck—-he was always chasing. I think JG should begin to pack his bags too!! What we had did not work and this Gm knows that. Imagine if he can get the Bruins pick as well? Geez! Today—-we became a better defensive team by subtraction. Signing D’Angelo is now a must. He will be cheaper, productive and clearly a better defender. When you can get two number ones and a gritty guy to boot—-you’ve done your job. Habs fans will pull their hair out watching this guy in their own zone. Good luck regardless—-take care Gil.
Curious what the Isles do going forward, Rebuild or retool? The contract seems too much but what is reasonable with the new cap? Back to work Mr Darche 🙂

Heineman will be a great compliment to Gatcomb! Dobson did not want to play here and all knew it so we lost leverage on this trade! More to come as they try to land Hagens somehow. Utah, Canucks and Hawks circling the wagon on Barzal. This could get more interesting! How to land Hagens? Hawks pick 3, Utah 4, Canucks 15…. More to come ! Barzal next? To get pick 3, or 4 that is likely the case. Heard Hawks offering number 3 number 25 and a defender. Utah the 4 th and ? , Nucks actually a bigger deal landing EP and the 15 for Barzal and a defender? All rumors of course
Heineman have a really good shot, if given the opportunity I'm sure he can scroe more than 10 goals! On a 82 games season, I won't be surprised if he can get between 14-18 goals, for a third line, that is good.
Also he is really good to put pressure on opposite team when doing Forechecking, he provoked last year many turnover from the opposite team.
For the third piece of the trade, I think he could be a nice piece on the Islanders.
From our side (MTL) I'm more than happy to get Dobson. I do not expect a 70pts player, I would expect more 55-60 points, but a right defenceman that play 20-22 minutes per game That would be a good relief on other defenceman at MTL that play a bit too much minutes right now
The Islanders traded Noah Dobson to Montreal for the 16th and 17th pick in the 1st Round. I know what I said about being like the girl with the curl when he's terrible, but at the same ⏲️, I wish him well.
Heineman is a good young player. He’s a bottom 6 with middle 6 upside. There should be some interesting players available at 16/17, Bear, Carbonneau, Hensler, Cootes, Spence. This could be a good trade for the Isles.

So with this trade I get my cake and eat it because as you know I like Dobber. I do not know how much better the Isles could of done here. The other GMs know of our dire Cap Space problem. Considering they didn't trade up with the two picks, couldn't agree more. Islanders did not do a good job leading up to the draft with Buffalo and JJ. To be honest, I'm not thrilled with Schaefer, they should've gone for scoring and snagged Misa.

The freed up cap space by not signing him is valuable for going after UFA’s, so that has to figure into the return. This team is very much in the present as well as future. Consider how many games was Dobson keyed into last season? True in previous years he was key and should be great for MTL. But Roy is playing a system that may favor other d men. D’Angelo may sign lower considering the money he has from previous buyouts.

Fail should have gotten a top 6 forward for Dobson. Wow. I hate to say it, but Lou would have gotten more.

So the take wasn’t enough, but Montreal overpaid on the contract. Right… enjoy another year at the bottom!
I like the deal we need physicality and with those 2 picks and possibly another player we can walk away with Schaeffer and Hagens or Misa
