Plan B? Alternative options for Canucks’ 2C and Dakota Joshua’s future

With the Canucks stuck in the mud in their search for a second line centre, Matt and Blake take a look at the “outside the box” options that they have in front of them. The guys look at internal and external options, with varying degrees of hope and risk. They also take on some fans’ suggestion of moving Dakota Joshua to centre, but is he even going to be a Canucks this season? The 4th Period’s David Pagnotta then joins the guys to go over some of the options discussed, plus he takes us through some of the tires that the Canucks have kicked in the offseason already, like Marco Rossi and Bowen Byram. David also addresses other offensive options that may be available with some prodding, and the possibility of a rare August trade market as many teams look to jockey for cap space. Whitecaps goalkeeper Isaac Boehmer then joins to talk about his upcoming start in the Canadian championship match vs Valour on Wednesday, and how the Whitecaps have battled roster adversity in the last 6 weeks. Matt and Blake finish up with some Whitecaps transfer reports, and the Blue Jays just keep winning!

  1. Canucks have had too many one-trick ponies! We need a center who truly can drive play to make the wingers better around him. This is the part of JT Miller’s game that I really feel the Canucks mgmt. took for granted. I would take Brayden Schenn, and Max Pacioretty on a one year term, in a heartbeat.

  2. I'd give up lekkerimaki and willander / mancini and a third or second, for a guy like mctavish. For somebody who is so young, plays center, scores goals, AND drives play he would fix A LOT of vancouvers issues

  3. Keep Joshua. I say throw him back on the 3rd line wing with Garland and Blueger. Or maybe try him on 3rd line at center with Garland and O’Connor. Trade Silovs, Lekkerimaki and Aman

  4. Keep DJ and try him at C… theres no harm and he could be the answer to our needs…a big hard nosed C.

I’d rather keep him at wing if it doesn’t work out… trade a smaller forward instead.

We need size and grit… we have skill, now we need to add some punch.

  5. Keep your draft choices go with what you have and trade Hughes that's the only your gonna get out of this mess!!!!!!!!

  6. I rather see them, try for Mason than Rossi.

DJ as full time C na, but injuries fill in maybe. Will be sad to lose DJ, but if it brings back a batter option, then it's ok.

Just because Ducks probably dont want Lank and Demco with that 8 plus mull. Arty, DJ, Lack, and Victor for Mason MC from Duck.

If there are no options and nothing works out via trade for 2c. Put Chytil in 3rd to start, say the first 40 game, let him work slowly toword, get comfortable, and move up to 2c. While Chytil is getting ready, why not try Ratu on second? Give him a taste of high up in the lineup. I liked a lot of things he has done so far and think he can be a good defincive C. Umma tell you now, he will push out Taddy and whoever in 3rd or 4th line give the kid a chance. I feel he can be a 3c/ part-time 2c future.

I want to see Max, Karlsson, Victor, and Lack more than 60 games in the NHL this season.

  7. Imagine the girl Rocket Queen was written about. JoDak has to stay. He gave us his all and had a cancer season of all things. Lets get back to three or four lines that have a threat to body check.

  8. The Canucks have been so soft, we now think having 3 forwards with any size and grit is redundant 😂 the best way to win low scoring games is to play deep in the offensive zone, need some big heavy wingers to do that. I agree he’s overpaid but I want that size
