Canucks Trade Silovs to Pens for Stillman and a Draft Pick

It’s sad to see him traded, but this was the only path forward.

  1. I saw someone say that silovez didn’t fix the Canucks timeline, tf we got a timeline?? 😭😭😭

  2. I hate losing this guy. As soon as Demko gets injured (and he will), trouble. I have really become disillusioned w this GM and Pres, for poor management decisions. Why let OIlers off the hook on Kane? The guy is already in trouble (saw him today w his lambo). What are we to think positive about? The new seats?

  3. As a Pens fan, I don't mind this at all. Not that the Pens really have much going for them right now… but as someone who wouldn't mind seeing the Canucks actually DO something.. uhh… what… why…

  4. Betting on Demko

    Is WAY less risky

    Than betting on EP40.

VC is betting they can get back to 23-24 team.

    And that necessary playoff revenue.

They have a lot of time to tweak the top 6.

And a lot of time to re-evaluate EP40's play and Demko's health.

  5. Sucks we lost him but I hope he blossoms into an NHL starter. His major problem is the long shots like we saw this season w/ Vancouver. He's elite in tight though. So we'll have to keep an eye on that.

  6. This trade will turn out to be a bad, bad, BAD idea. Fast forward to November 2025: Demko injured. Expected to be out 6 to 8 weeks.

  7. The purpose of the waiver system is to let fringe players get a chance with a big club on the NHL ice for their development. It sucks as a fan of a team losing someone cause of waivers but they're in place to help the players and are a net good. Vancouver has their goaltending sorted so this was inevitable. Silovs is still a project at the NHL level.

Maybe 4 years down the line we might have a spot and he might be available and want to come back to the city he loved, who knows.

  8. Once Demko is injured in mid November or December, the Canucks might regret this move. I REALLY liked Silovs — He was AMAZING in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs for the Vancouver Canucks. AMAZING job too as AHL playoff MVP. I hope Silovs has a great season in Pittsburgh and a long career in the NHL.

NOTE: Markstrom and Demko never had the same success as Silovs in the AHL & Canucks' farm team. Also, I REALLY like Demko and I hope he's healthy all season … I just have a bad feeling …

  9. Edmonton was trying to put a package together for Silovs so why not wait till you see it . Other teams were also lining up for Silovs . Your evaluations are way off . Seems like Rutherford helping his old team . Maybe he's planning on going back .

  10. This again just proves how dumb this management team is.
Demko is gonna get hurt then what?
Why did we even sign demko? Should have let him walk and kept Arturs

  11. Can you please make a video on WHY the Canucks (had) to trade him? This comment section is wild. Yes he was a fan favourite and could possibly be great in the NHL one day but they didn’t really have a choice unless they wanted to lose him for nothing on waivers.

  12. It sucks to see him go but my god a lot of these comments make it seem like we just traded a star player. Silvos will be the backup in Pittsburgh because they have someone who is waiver eligible, but demko and lank are miles ahead of him. People forget tolopilo carried the Abby Canucks workload last season, the past 2 seasons he had over a .900 SV%.

  13. I think they did vary well with this trade just look at what Edmonton got from the Canucks for evander cane all Edmonton got was a 4 round pick so I think Vancouver got more than I would have expected from Pittsburgh

  14. people love him way too much when hes done nothing in the NHL. Sure he played decent in the playoffs but what happened at the start of the regular season when he was given the opportunity? he got sent back to the ahl. He hasn't proven shit

  15. Terrible decision. Silovs has more than proven himself, in the 2024 playoffs no less. Was hoping there was some method to the Canucks' madness. At least there's no room for doubt now, in my mind.

  16. For someone still learning the intricacies of the NHL, do you have a video (or would you consider making a video) regarding contract styles and types for education? Just because as you refer to the “listed on waivers” situation for Silovs and Blom, I am not sure what that means in the NHL landscape. Also, am curious with free agency and the NHL draft, how different contract types or how rosters are managed with AHL counterparts. Maybe you already have that content, or that could be something potentially for another day. Enjoy the content as always!

  17. As a non Vancouver fan this seems really stupid of them, why wouldn’t they keep him? I can’t understand how they have any faith in demko, hasnt he not played in like 2 years?

  18. Penguins vs Canucks intermission show will be about how many high danger shots are taken from the blue line.

  19. As a Hawks fan, I am so happy the Canucks traded him and gave him an opportunity to succeed to get a Stanley Cup, wouldn't have happened in Vancouver.

  20. Damned if they lose him to waivers, damned if they traded him for something in return.

Canucks fans will whine about anything. 😂

  21. Allvin made a massive mistake by overpaying Lankinen. That contract in conjunction with trading Silovs is the real damage
