Manga is feisty, he was a good pest for the flamers, he plays like Hyman. I am excited about the Manga signing. Arviddson was a waste, turnover machine, I call him the play killer.
Your concerns are fair but I will say give him a chance. I'm sure an expectation will be for him to rachet up his offence if he plays in the top 6 but I think he was acquired mainly for being hard to play against. It's worthy to note he hasn't been a minus player since his first year in the league so if he buys in and has consistency, he will be another effective two-way player the Oilers desperately need.
The only reason imma say I hate the argument that we choose not to resign Connor brown, Corey Perry, and Even keep Evander Kane is cause look at the contracts they took. Perry took a 2 Million + 2 Mill in bonus we couldn’t afford that.
Connor Brown: He took a 3 year 4 million in cap space. We had to resign Bouchard which we knew was gonna be a costly resigning.
After even clearing Arvidsson. We had 4.5 Million in cap space, and we got 2 forwards for the price of 1 of them.
Bowman main target as well was trying to make the team younger and he did.
Only person I would honestly like to see get traded is Mattias Ekholm. We can get 6 million from him AND maybe get another D man from trading also giving us a lot more money to get more bottom 6 depth.
Is it a concern it can be. But we needed to age down. We were slow last playoffs in cup finals, couldn’t generate rush chances vs Florida.

He has exp assisting ovi on the right wall, and was there during Ovi’s goal record season. Meaning, he knows he must “give the puck to Ovi, apples n apples n apples”.
That’s going to be his role as far as playing with 29 but on the left wall.
If he plays with 97 he can be a little rat like Marchand in FLA.
Lazar won the memorial cup with the Oil Kings, and has played with 25 & 97 in the past.
In the end, Kane and Perry had their scoring and big moments, but they’re both attitude guys.. and they contributed too much to the Penalty minutes in the playoffs.
Mangi & Lazar vs 28 & 33 is about equal I’d say
Oilers are right up against the cap and have been for a while and that makes it hard to make good moves. I think 2 years ago when we had Holloway and Broberg the Oilers were in a much better position. Once again because of the salary cap they couldn't keep em. We got Jeff Skinner and Arvidsson good players on paper but neither of them worked out very well. With the salary cap you have to try and find some discount players that aren't over the hill or unproven a tough thing to do. I would have loved for Oilers to have got Brock Boeser or a good goalie but Oilers don;t really got the cap for it right now. I think Oilers will make the playoffs again but I doubt we'll make it to a final again this year unless we somehow get some more depth.
Funny, Mangiapane was one of the few Flames i really liked the game of, over the last decade or so. He just always seemed to be dangerous and made smart plays.
I'm not sure if he'll be the same player or not, and i haven't seen him in the last 2, but I'm optimistic it'll be a step up from who we let go (excluding Kane).

We arent significantly worse than last year, just the same. Out: Arvidsson, J.Skinner, Perry and Brown. In: Frederic, Mangipane, Savoie & Tomasek. Calling them a wild card team after making the finals is kind of dumb.

The roster literally makes it to the final. We roll out pretty much the same roster and "nothing about this roster tells me they can make the final." Its one thing to say that we haven't gotten better and can't beat the panthers but this is still the best team in the west.

Idk what you expected. We have 4.5m in cap space. What are we going to do? We have to rely on young guys. If savoie pans out he will be draisaitls winger. How would we have afforded boeser with what he signed for.

I have to disagree with you hating on Corey Perry there were times in the playoffs he was the third best player on the ice for Edmonton he saw the writing on the wall the goal tending the coaching and the depth on that team is sub par at best. Like you said the team got worse in the off-season so why is he gonna hang out???

Nothing matters if oilers can’t trade nurse. That’s 9M plus another 4M to pay a defence to cover nurse. It’s really like 13 M. Wasted.
Mangiapane is a good move considering the horrible contracts given this free agency. Now they can make some smart trades.
Bread Eater will be a good addition. He's coming off a down year and is slotted to replace Arvidsson, but at a lower cost, plus he kills penalties and is 3 years younger. Considering what other players got, I can live with this deal and look for a bounceback from Mangiapane. 15+ goals and 25+ assists would be what I expect in a full 82.
Calm down, Trev. You can't compare Boeser's contract with Mangiapane's. Mangiapane is signed for a total of $7.2M; Boeser's total is $50.75M. Mangiapane is getting paid LESS than Connor Brown. Don't forget that you thought Ekholm was not a good add to the Oilers. The team plans to accrue cap space over the season in case they need to add a goalie at the deadline.
Years of bad management Eberle, Hall, Broberg and Holloway they could’ve drafted Wallstedt gave up on Marino and Kesslering, Nurse’s bad contract as well. All these little things lead to bad mediocre years and years like these ones where team and organization depth are non existent when needed. Hopefully it all comes together tho
