I think the Reeves trade was already in the works. Brad knew how useless he was. And if one of your players is giving another advice on where to play the next season that speaks volumes on how awful Reeves and Marner are as teammates. I hope Reeves enjoys playing in the minors all season
Reaves said he wanted to play 2 more yrs.He was a mistake that Treliving made & now he's giving him 2 yrs & Treliving has cut his loss.

Pretty easy to see that Marner had no intentions of resigning with the Leafs. When a star player doesn't resign the year before he hits free agency, there's a pretty good chance he's not signing. Remember Chris Bosh. The summer before he left, he kept saying all the right things about staying with The Raptors but he was already plotting to join James and Wade in Miami. Marner did the same thing. What I find difficult to understand is how former team president, Brendan Shanahan, one of the toughest, grittiest, and competitive players to ever play in the NHL, could have allowed his teams to be so soft and not see that it was time to move off of the core 4 way before Marner left.
I wouldn't say the Sharks are the worst team they at least have a path going. Blackhawks and a bunch of other teams literally have 0 going for them.
Marner to VGK good ridance. Move on. Marners no trade is not all on Treliving. Dubas dragged his ass and did noting prior. For 8 years they saw Mitchy dissappear in the playoffs and did nothing.
I don't believe a checked-out Mitch Marner would affect Mitch Marner's performance. He played based on skill and skill alone his entire time on Toronto. What I could see is it affecting other players that do feed off 'brother-in-arms' passion. In fact, I'd say Morgan Reilly was a much bigger passenger than Mitch Marner was. Morgan Rielly went through the motions but doesn't have the skillset like Marner has. I really think he needs to be traded as well. And if Morgan doesn't agree to a trade, think he's definitely going to have to either chase for a Norris trophy or become the whipping boy.

Mathews still didn't point out his own play because he was no where to be found in games 5,6 and 7. The "passenger" comment could have been directed to Nylander as well who disappeared as well
