I think with Maccelli, id want to replicate his success that he had in Arizona. He mostly played with Crouse and Bjustad. I think the easy fit would be with McMann and Roy. Thats a wonderful scoring line with good defensive instincts. To me thats your ideal 3rd line.
This is what the future with out marner looks like building some crap roster and hoping we get a a 1 in a million Cinderella season like the 19 blues 🤣that blues team had more of a chance of having the worst record in the league then winning a cup but sometimes the stars align but that is not a good strategy for the future . There is going to be a lot of humble pie eating in the coming years for this channel oo and you better hope Am34 wrist isn't cooked and Nylander shows up for another season cause that's the only way your making the playoffs .
If cowan can break does good in and then get some time with Matthews’ line and he replaces Domi there and you move domi down, would be the best case scenario for the leafs

Tavares old, Jarnkrok old, Laughton old, Kampf old and almost every member is past their prime.
This roster is not making the playoffs.
Rielly needs to go and the Leafs need to trade for another 80+ point producer.
So Nick Robertson gets 1.5m for 15g/7a/22pts in 69 games and that schmuck Maccelli 8g / 10a / 18pts in 55 games gets 3.5 having been a healthy scratch for 17 games. WTF kinda clown show is this ? No wonder NR doesn't want to play in TO.
I want macelli upfront with matthews and knies.
You needed to talk about the power play and penalty killing units.
They had been a problem last year at times, and is going to be a bigger problem this year.
If they do poorly this year, it will be because of those to I beat.

Tavares is going to take a huge step back if he's the 2C without Marner around, yeah he would have Nylander but he isn't the playmaker Mitch is during the regular season especially. Nylander is going to want to have the puck the most on that line. I think Tavares will be lucky to score 25 goals, they may have to move from a strength of the team most likely defense and hopefully Rielly would waive his NMC so the Leafs could get some kind of top 6 forward to bandaid the loss of Marner. I really don't know if they go in to the season with this roster as presently constructed and make the playoffs. They have too many question marks, like is Matthews going to be 100% and even if he is, is the injury last year one that could be reaggravated and targeted on a nightly basis to once again slow down his scoring ability, they have no prospects and picks to do anything significant. All I see is a team stuck in the middle in no man's land not bad enough to get another top prospect and nowhere near cup contention. The only hope is in 2026 to try and attract one of the big free agents but we would basically be running a new core four with a player not named Marner (I don't think it will be McDavid). Montreal and Ottawa are on the rise, Florida is obviously the gold standard and Tampa is more of a threat right now.

The Copium is beyond the pale here. The Leafs aren't built like the STL team of 2019. Furthermore, again, the Leafs need to replace 100 points. (I do think Mathews "rebounds" this year, not sure how). Florida is the class of the division and MTL is coming up fast. Consider it a successful year if the Leafs make the playoffs and win a series.

Whoever is on the team next year, they really need to focus on two things in my opinion : Tipping and Net presence.
Sometimes you just need to put the puck at the net and win battles. They don't do it enough.

Tavares subconsciously will feel he’s not being valued and his cheap contract will be of little consequence.

Using the season stats straight up to tell the '19 Blues line-up story is not telling the right story. What did those guys do (damage-wise) from Jan 1 to game 82? What would their paces be? The first half of the season they were beyond terrible, across the board.
