I hated this years draft format. I missed the family pre-draft recorded segments and getting a better look at the coat linings and their meaning. Other than my main team, I end up following a team because of a particular player and I ended up following CBJ a couple years ago because of what I learned of the new players in the pre-recorded segments. I now really like several players on that team and will likely follow them should they ever be traded. On top of that, this format was so awkward on so many levels. We also didn't get the drama of potential trades because we could look at the interplay between teams mgmt. The trades seemed anti-climatic when they happened because by the time they are quickly announced, everything has already moved on and I had lost focus dealing with the boring NHL room. The time delay and the need to have someone fill in space was just blah.
The Buffalo Quinn is an ice dancer. Not a hockey player. Won't go to the net, Won't block shots nor play D. Typical Sabres signing. Pathetic.
The Gibson trade honestly is a good trade given the revolving door that we had since Jimmy Howard left. It will give Cossa some more time to develop with the Griffins in the AHL

Clifton being dealt for an oft-injured Timmins (tall, but not physical) and some guy makes no sense to me as a Sabres’ fan, unless this questionable deal leads to something bigger. Clifton added a much-needed physical presence on the back end, and unlike Samuelsson has been a lot more durable.
it was a travesty for the league to force the 2nd day on a non-major network. I don't get NHLN as it isn't available on my basic package and I only subscribe to ESPN+ during the season. Total ridiculous failure to grow interest in the sport.
The commentators also regularly talked over the picks. I think the teams would prefer decentralized so they can focus with screens in their own war rooms. But that production was absolutely awful as you say.

I've the draft since the early years of it being televised and HATED this years version. If they stay with the decentralized version, I won't be watching it again. So clunky and slow. The duplication of what the NHL did and Sportsnet was crazy and slow. The GMs and scouting staff looked like stone smiling statutes on the monitors.
